Apple iPad Mini 2 Could Feature Samsung-Made Retina Display This Year
As far as market rivalries are concerned, none has been able to make it big compared to the likes of Samsung and Apple with their numerous lawsuits against each other. However, it seems like both the companies are willing to set aside their differences and are looking to enter a new lucrative partnership that will benefit both.
While both the companies have been at each other's necks all this time, they have still managed to carry on business with each other as usual in the background where the South Korean manufacturer has kept producing components for Apple's iPhone.
Keeping up the tradition into 2014 as well, as suggested via a new report, Samsung is said to start producing the Retina display used in Apple's iPad mini 2, sometime in the second half of 2014.
Reportedly, Samsung will now take over charge of Sharp's display orders for the new device. Apart from that, previously contracted Taiwanese company AUO will also cease work on the displays, thus surrendering its production orders to Samsung.
"As for the iPad Mini 2′s panels, reports have it that Samsung will start producing the Retina displays starting with the second half of the year. While LG and Sharp will continue to manufacture panels for the aforementioned tablet, a good portion of Sharp's display orders will be taken over by Samsung," G4Games states, translating the report from the original ETNews revelation.
And while nothing has been mentioned with total assurance and everything here has to be taken with a pinch of salt, If indeed true, the report will also shed some light on the fact that despite constantly being at each other's throats, Samsung is simply too big and profitable for Apple to sever all ties with.

However, only time will tell if the new rumors indeed fall in place and if Apple and Samsung keep aside their differences and work together on an Apple-made device.
