Apple Launches iPhone 4S!
Apple iPhone was first introduced in 2007 and it’s been a massive success story. The latest version was expected to be launched as the iPhone 5, but Apple has chosen to unveil the new model as iPhone 4S as Tim Cook, Apple CEO who took over from Steve Jobs, headed the launch function at the headquarters of Apple in Cupertino, California on Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

Of course, expectations had been building up as the last new iPhone version was launched 16 months before. Apple iPhone 4S has pretty cool features such as an app for sending greeting cards for the price of $2.99 each, and a personal assistant voice-activated service – cool stuff that can send the excitement levels high. It’s just that the launch didn’t seem to appear as groundbreaking as many expected and this even reflected on the New York Stock Exchange with the Apple stock losing more than 5 percent but improving upon it to later close the day with less than 1 percent lost.

One of the reasons some felt the iPhone launch was underwhelming was because the expectations (fueled by Apple’s code of secrecy) had dictated the new model to be named the iPhone 5. But Apple iPhone 4S is indeed a considerable improvement on earlier models with features such as an improved camera featuring a higher resolution sensor and a smoother running and faster processor that facilitates true-to-life action games. Starting from iPhone 4S, Verizon iPhones can be used overseas too. This is already true with AT&T iPhones.

The personal assistant feature on Apple iPhone 4S is called Siri and responds commands and questions spoken by the user. Other innovations include the function to wirelessly sync content without plugging the iPhone to a Windows or Mac computer. In addition, this iPhone is loaded with the iOS 5, Apple’s new mobile software. This will be available for the iPhone 3GS and 4, later iPod Touch models and the two iPad versions from October 12. Apple will also launch its iCloud service on October 12. iCloud will enable users to access photos, documents, music and apps stored in Apple’s servers.

So there is plenty to be excited about following the launch of Apple iPhone 4S. It’s just that the launch appeared to be low-key by Apple’s and former CEO Steve Jobs’ standards. This has further fueled speculation that another new iPhone model will be launched by Apple within 12 months with features such as a chip enabling payment at retail stores and the capability to benefit from the high-speed data networks of Verizon and AT&T.

With Apple, you never know! Available in black or white, Apple iPhone 4S will sell for a price of 10,000 to 15,000. Buying one will also require service contract signed for two years.
