Apple iPhone 5 vs LG Nexus 4: The Big Phones Fight for Supremacy
Its November and many highly anticipated smartphones including Android 4.2 Jelly Bean based LG Nexus 4, iOS 6 based iPhone 5, Windows Phone 8 based Nokia Lumia 920, HTC 8X, Samsung Ativ S and others are awaited eagerly by the tech enthusiasts and consumers to release in the global market for purchase.
It is officially confirmed that iPhone 5 will reach the retail shelves of the Indian smartphone arena today and Apple has planned a public launch event on the same. There are reports circulating that Apple iPhone 5 is facing some supply chain issues and that the handset will be available for purchase only from a couple of weeks.
However, it is also reported that those consumers who have pre-ordered the handset will receive one immediately. When it comes to the pricing, iPhone 5 willretail at a price of Rs 45,500, Rs 52,500 and Rs 59,500 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions respectively.
When it comes to Nexus 4 – Google latest Nexus offering, the handset running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS is a modified version of the Korean manufacturer's flagship smartphone – Optimus G, which is yet to be released into the market.
Nexus 4 has several advanced features as compared to the iPhone 5 including NFC and wireless charing. Though there is no official word on the specific release date and pricing of the Nexus 4, the handset is reported to reach the Indian market by the end of November and analysts assume that it will be priced around Rs 20,000 approximately. Speaking about the new features of the operating systems, iOS 6, the latest version of the Apple’s mobile OS is loaded with 200 new features including Apple Maps, improved Siri, new Safari browser, iCloud cloud storage, deeper integration to Facebook, new PassBook app, PhotoStream app and more.
On the other hand, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes with new features including Photo Sphere camera, Gesture Typing, Miracast, DayDream, improved notifications, quick settings, support to multiple user accounts, improved Google Now and more.
Camera: On the camera optics front, both the devices have an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash features and a 1.3MP front camera for video calling.
Further, iPhone 5 has a iSight camera which includes features like backside illumination, HDR, panorama support and faster aperture speed.

Memory: On the storage front, iPhone 5 comes in three configurations – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage and 1GB RAM, whereas, Nexus 4 comes with 2GB RAM and 8GB/16GB internal storage options.
However, both iPhone 5 and Nexus 4 lack a micro SD card slot for additional memory support.
Connectivity: When it comes to data connectivity, iPhone 5 and Nexus 4 have features including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and micro USB 2.0.
Further, Nexus 4 has NFC and wireless charging features that is missing in iPhone 5.
Battery: iPhone 5 is claimed to have a Li-ion battery delivering 225 hours standby and 8 hours talk time and Nexus 4 has a 2,100 mAh Li-Po battery with 15.3 hours of talk time and standby of 390 hours.
Price: iPhone 5 will be officially released in India starting today for a price of Rs 45,500 for the 16GB version. On the other hand, the pricing of Nexus 4 is not officially announced, but, analysts predict that the handset will retail in India for a price of Rs 20,000 approximately.

Moreover, they are based on new versions of the rival platforms – iOS 6 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, hence, they are packed with unique software features that are exclusive to the OS.
If the concern is not on wireless charging and NFC connectivity features, the lightweight and thinner iPhone 5 with a better camera performance, improved social network integration and increased on-board storage options could be your choice.
On the other hand, if a larger screen real estate and better battery backup are the main concern, the Nexus 4 with NFC connectivity and wireless charging features could be a right smartphone.
