In the coming months, we will see Apple in an all new avatar. Until now, the Cupertino-based tech giant is targeting only high-net individuals with its iPhone. Now according to multiple reports, there are chances to see Apple making its debut in mid segment smartphone market with low cost iPhone. Currently, this mid end market is dominated by Samsung and Google and Micromax in India.

Earlier in the year, Tim Cook signaled many more interesting products to be rolled out later this year. While, Apple CEO did not mention anything during subsequent events; however, Apple is always known for its secretive nature. Consequently, its upcoming devices somehow leaked before making their debut via supply chain insiders.

The Apple fanboys have already seen the new version of iOS, which itself means new hardware are coming sooner or later. So, there is no doubt that Apple is not making next-gen iPhone or even a low cost phone to cut competition.

Apple's foray into mid segment market with an affordable iPhone is clearly meant to hit Samsung. The South Korean giant not only controls this ever growing market in collaboration with Google, but also maintained its lead over number of tech vendors.

According to a report, Samsung held 4 % of the smartphone market share, back in 2010. On the other hand, Apple was way ahead than Samsung with 16 % in 2010. In 2012 (October - December), Samsung notched 29 % of smartphone market, while Apple stood at 22 %. Since last year, Samsung saw an impressive jump due to hell number of launches. From low end Galaxy Star phone to Galaxy S4, this tech vendor even eclipsed Nokia in the Indian market.

Apple is unknown to lower segment market. The iPad market never ever tried to be competitive. But now the situation is different. Steve Jobs name is not enough to sell devices. The company's iPhone 5 registered decent sales, but they are not up to the mark.

Earlier Google was only present in search. Now the maker of Nexus devices elevated itself to the rank of Apple due to Android OS. The software giant now controls 75 % of smartphone OS market.

iPhone 5S – Display

Apple could use Sharp made IGZO display: a superior LCD panel with that resolution of 2560 x 1600 at 498ppi. It is believed that the production has already started last month. The tech giant could go for either a 4-inch display or 4.8-inch one. No one has confirmed the exact display size.
