Sure Apple has now finally revealed the brand new iPhones that are set to go live later this year, but it isn't a big deal since we have anyway been expecting the handsets. However, the big deal remains with what Apple did with the new iPhones. And seriously, we are liking what we are seeing here.
As you may already know, the new iPhones come in two sizes viz. 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch which are quite impressive design-wise and are also feature rich in terms of UI. Obviously, bigger display means bigger space for the UI to play.
Going through the specs of the 4.7-inch variant, the iPhone 6 comes in at 4.7 inches (at 1334×750). The glass on the front of the displays now curves into the body, contrary to the flat edges of all models prior.
The handset is powered by Apple's new A8 processor, which Apple claims is at least 25% faster than the A7 by processing power. The company also says there's improved battery life up for grabs as well with the new handset.
The new camera module on the Apple iPhone 6 has a wider f/2.0 aperture as opposed to f/2.2 on the previous model and a 1.5 micron pixel sensor. However, it is still an 8 megapixel sensor. Apple calls it the iSight camera. The front-facing camera also includes a new sensor and a larger ƒ/2.2 aperture, according to Apple.
The iPhone 6 also comes with a new set of connectivity options. These includes VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) and Wi-Fi calling for T-Mobile in the United States and EE in the United Kingdom. Apple has enhanced its LTE radios in its newest chip and it now supports up to 150Mbps downlink along with 20 bands. And in case you were wondering if and when the handsets will be ready for India, it seems like both of them are arriving in the native market on October 17.
But let's not get into the specs of the handset much since that's not the base of this article. We are, in fact, taking a look at the handset's 10 biggest features that make it such a treat over its predecessors.
Apple wanted to bring a bit of size into the entire iPhone factor, and hence today we see the handset with a 4.7-inch form factor. As Apple puts it "More powerful, but remarkably power efficient." It's one continuous form where hardware and software function in perfect unison, creating a new generation of iPhone that's better by any measure.
There's the Retina HD display for fans to consider. And with full sRGB color standard, higher contrast, and incredible brightness and white balance, it is one of the top products that you will see come out of the market this year.
The new iPhone 6 features an A8 chip built on second-generation 64-bit desktop-class architecture. Its incredible power is enhanced by an M8 motion co-processor that efficiently measures your activity from advanced sensors, including a new barometer. This means you can do more, for longer periods of time, with better performance and battery life.
In addition to its large 1.5-micron pixels and ƒ/2.2 aperture, the world's most popular camera is packed with new technologies to help everyone take more great photos. To make it just as easy to shoot amazing video, Apple has added new features like the option to capture 1080p HD at 60 fps, 240-fps slo-mo, and time-lapse video. And you can shoot HD video and then watch the stunning results on the large Retina HD display.
Rather than using traditional methods to create the higher-resolution Retina HD display, Apple has developed an advanced process of photo alignment. This involves using UV light to precisely position the display's liquid crystals so they lay exactly where they should.
make sure everyone experiences stunning clarity, the new Retina HD display has dual-domain pixels to enable color accuracy from corner to corner. This keeps movies and photos stay true, even when viewing from wider angles.
The iSight camera in iPhone 6 features an Apple-designed video encoder and image signal processor built into the A8 chip. They support advanced camera and video features, like new Focus Pixels, better face detection, continuous autofocus, and enhanced noise reduction, so it's easier to shoot higher-quality photos and videos.
The new iPhone 6 has faster LTE download speeds.1 That's also why it has more LTE bands than any other smartphone. iPhone 6 supports more advanced wireless technologies to boost performance and help you connect to the things that are near to you.
With faster LTE (up to 150 Mbps) iPhone 6 users can experience faster download and upload speeds for browsing the web, streaming music, making video calls, and more. The iPhone 6 also supports Voice over LTE (VoLTE) - wideband high-quality calls that make your conversations sound as crisp and clear as if you were face to face.
Touch ID is capable of 360-degree readability, which means no matter what its orientation (portrait, landscape, or anything else) your iPhone reads your fingerprint and knows who you are. And Touch ID even lets you enroll multiple fingerprints.
