Exclusive: Asus PadFone to Witness Official Price Drop to Rs 50000 Next Month
Today, Asus launched the FonePad, the voice calling tablet in India at Rs 15,999. Interestingly, the tablet comes with 3G support and other impressive features that can compete with the likes of other global devices including Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 310.
GizBot was present at the launch event in New Delhi and has come up with an exclusive information. According to an inside source, the Taiwanese tech firm is planning to slash the price of the PadFone, the hybrid device from the whopping Rs 64,999 to Rs 50,000 officially.

Also, GizBot was informed that this initial price cut will happen sometime in May, and that it will be followed by another price drop to Rs 45,000 approximately. As of now, there is no information on when the second price slash will happen.
To remind of specs, PadFone boasts a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive multi-touch display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 1.3MP front camera, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS and a 1,520 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 63 hours of battery life with the PadFone station and 102 hours with the keyboard dock.
Further, the PadFone comes in three configurations - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively. Interestingly, PadFone has a tablet dock dubbed as PadFone Station, which has a 2MP rear camera and 6,600 mAh Li-ion battery to charge the device while it is docked. Also, the smartphone - tablet hybrid has a keyboard dock with multi-touch pad, SD card reader, a USB port and a stylus.
