MWC 2013 hype is in full swing and various mystifyingly vague teaser trailers are already hitting the web. The latest one to make its appearance is Asus as the company seems to be prepping something called 'metallic miracle'. Asus is already known to launch a PadFone at the MWC 2013 event in the next week.

Meantime, on Wednesday, the Taiwanese tech giant has released a teaser video depicting a metallic spacecraft landing on the iconic Sagrada Família, the incomplete masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona. The video looks like a scene from an alien invasion movie.

The clip shows a large metallic object flying over Barcelona, before landing itself down in the middle of a large church. It all seems a bit much and Asus leaves viewers pondering a request at the end of the bizarre teaser: "Join Asus to embrace the metallic miracle."

Visiting the URL printed on the final image in the video shows a second teaser featuring a countdown clock to the Asus press event at MWC, but the giveaway is in the words: "Join us on February 25, when Pad and Phone come together."

What does this mean? Well, hopefully, Asus has a lovely, fully metallic tablet or smartphone ready to delight the tech media.

There has been the suggestion of a Windows-based device on the Padfone concept, which might be what this refers to or it could simply be an extension of the Android line of devices, which so far have been a little slow to make it to market.

According to ongoing reports, Asus will be launching the rumored FonePad at MWC 2013 and its first leaked photo revealed an aluminum back. The device also been confirmed as it was spotted at GCF (Global Certification Forum) database similar to FCC.

The name of the ASUS Fonepad suggests that the 7-inch tablet will also come with phone functionality, and the leaked GCF documents are confirming that the terminal has support for GSM connectivity, but also for EDGE and HSDPA.

The tech world is also filled with rumors of an Asus tablet codenamed ME371MG with a 7 inch display and Intel Atom Z2420 processor. However, some reports claim that ME371MG is the codename of FonePad.

Coming to rumored specs, FonePad is speculated to come with a 7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB/32GB internal storage, micro SD card slot and a 4,270 mAh battery. As it is rumored to be a budget tablet, FonePad is expected to hit the retail stores with a price tag between $150 (approx. Rs 8,100) to $200 (approx. Rs 10,800).
