In an attempt to expand its basket of offerings, AT&T has released a new QWERTY smartphone Pantech Renue. This is a budget phone available at a price of $119.99 on a two year contract (with a $50 mail-in rebate) or for $239.99 outright.

Renue has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard designed to provide a comfortable typing experience to its users. The handset is dust, water, shock and temperature proof. It is powered by Brew Mobile operating system and is MIL-STD-810 certified. It is highly portable and comes with an approximate weight of around 128 grams.

Pantech Renue will run on Brew Mobile operating system and will be powered by Single-core Qualcomm QSC 6270 processor.

Eco-Friendly Phone: The main speciality of the smartphone is that, Renue is built from 67 percent recyclable components, and its packaging is constructed from 95 percent recycled paper and printed with soy ink, which isn't a petroleum industry byproduct and it has got a power-saving app, as well.

Display: The handset has a 3.2 inches TFT QVGA capacitive touchscreen display along with a resolution of up to 240 x 320 pixels.

Camera: The device also feature a 3-megapixels rear end camera that comes along with features such as exposure control, Geotagging, digital zoom and self-timer.

Connectivity: The network c onnetivity of this handset is Dual SIM based. Web browsing in Pantech Renue is possible through HTML browser. It is a GSM phone which supports cellular data links such as GPRS and EDGE.

Further, the hanset also includes Bluetooth and USB for f aster data transfer. Messaging and e-mail options are standard specifications in this QWERTY phone.

Battery: The handset is loaded with a 1000 mAh standard lithium-ion battery capable of providing 3 hours of talktime and 250 hours of standby time.

At the same time, the handset features 256 MB RAM along with 0.185 GB internal memory storage capacity and it has a expandable memory option via microSD slot. Other features include calendar, alarm, calculator, notepad and GPS support.

However, Pantech Renue lacks aWi-Fi capability and camera enhancement features such as autofocus and flash. Further, a VGA camera is also a missing component.

Pantech Renue is an efficient phone which houses the use of environmentally preferable materials and other criteria. Moreover, AT&T has mentioned in the company press release that, it will release eco-rating labels on postpaid handset devices, and on 14 existing cell phones.
