Blackberry Curve 9360 Vs Blackberry Torch 2 9810 : Comparison
Here we discuss the features of two upcoming Blackberry models – Curve 9360 or Apollo and Torch 2 9810, codenamed Jennings. One difference is quite obvious, one has a curved shape and other one belongs to the famous sliding Torch series from Blackberry. Let us also look at some of the other differences in these 2 models.
Regarding the release dates, Torch 2 9810 is expected to release this month, where as users have to wait till September to grab Curve 9360 model.
Both models have almost identical dimension in height and weight, but in terms of processing efficiency, Torch 2 seems ahead driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 1200 MHz clock frequency. Curve 9360 has an 800 MHz clock frequency and is powered by Marvell CPU.
Display screen of Torch 2 9810 is slightly bigger than that of Curve 9360, 3.2 inch as against 2.4 inch. However both models have the same resolution of 480x360 pixel and same transmissive TFT type color screen. In terms of memory capacity too, Torch 2 is ahead having 768 MB internal memory as compared to 512 MB of Curve model. Besides this, slider Torch 2 model also can have an expandable memory up to 7.5 GB.
There is nothing to choose between them, when it comes to audio features. Both are mono supported with a 3.5 mm audio jack built in. Speakerphone is supported in Curve 9360, but the same is missing in the Torch 2 model.
In terms of network technology, there is a marked difference. Torch 2 9810 is a single SIM model supporting GSM/3G. Curve 9360 is a dual SIM phone with a capacity to switch from CDMA to GSM. Besides it the curve model also enables 3G network.
Control devices in both the models remain same with QWERY keypads and touch screen and touch pad. But Torch 2 has a sliding keypad and multi-touch touch screen. In terms of data connectivity options, both the models have support for standard options like USB, Bluetooth and Wireless LAN. Besides a higher resolution camera in Torch 2 9810, 5 MP as against 4.9 MP, all the other camera features also remain the same. Torch 2 as expected will have a powerful battery with 1270 mAh capacity compared to 1050 mAh in Curve 9360 model.
Though the expected price of Torch 2 9810 model is Rs 28000, it is difficult to comments unless we know the price of Curve 9360 model. But looking at the processing efficiency and features, we can expect Curve 9360 to have a lower price to compete in the market place.
