BlackBerry seems to be achieving more than its expectations from the Indian market. Undoubtedly, the company's flagship smartphone - Z10 received much anticipation even before its launch, but the results are more surprising than the predictions.

According to several media reports, BlackBerry CEO Thorstein Heins has stated that BlackBerry Z10 has been sold out in the Indian market within two days of its release, however, the stocks were assumed to last for five days. This is definitely a surprise as the handset priced at Rs 43,490 was subjected to criticism.

As far as specs are concerned, BlackBerry Z10 comes with a 4.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G LTE and a removable 1,800 mAh battery.

BlackBerry 10 OS Updates

Make sure that you install all the latest BB10 OS updates on your Z10 as these software will optimize the smartphone in order to improve the battery life. However, users will have to manually check for updates by going to Settings → Software Updates → Check for updates.

Connections

It is always recommended that the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, mobile data and other network connectivity options are turned off when not in use to improve the battery life.

Accounts

Using ActiveSync or IMAP for email consumes less power than using POP as they are more efficient. It is also noted that keeping a minimum number of accounts for email, calendar and contacts will help reducing power drain. It is also recommended that users are proactive about removing accounts that they no longer use regularly.

BlackBerry Charger Only

Use only the provided BlackBerry charger. The charger that is included in the box has been optimized to deliver the best charge to the Z10. Other chargers may not be as efficient or as effective. It is also suggested that users charge for extended periods of time whenever possible, rather than in short bursts.

Display Brightness

The display of any mobile device is the one component that draws the most power. Taking the time to customize how often the screen is woken automatically when new messages or alerts arrive can help to minimize power drain. Adjusting the screen's brightness level down always helps a lot.

Notifications

It is necessary that users customize their notifications as the smartphone will have to blink to vibrate for every notification that arrives in. If the count of alerts increases, the power consumption also increases.

Lock Screen and Screen Lock Timeout

It is suggested that consumers of Z10 use the lock screen control to prevent the accidental taps on the display that turn on the device and thereby drain the battery life unnecessarily.

Besides using the Lock key, there is a setting that will allow the users to customize the screen lock timeout. This control lets the users decide how long the handset will have to wait to turn the screen off. The lesser the time, the more the battery life.

Review Application and Game Refresh Settings

Reviewing and refreshing settings within third-party apps and games is mandatory as some of them might maintain active connections to services or data that is still being transferred, which will again result in draining the battery.
