BSNL-Champion Trendy 531 Phablet Unleashed: Top 5 Rivals

By Anuj

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has collaborated with Champion Computers to produce an entry level phablet device. The BSNL- Champion Trendy 531 is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and is priced at Rs. 13,999.

Moreover, if you purchase BSNL-Champion Trendy 531, then you will be entitled to get free BSNL 500MB 3G data for a year. Surely, you may not like the device (design wise) in comparison to the likes of Sony, Samsung and HTC, but hey, the internal specifications are not that bad.

Let's have a look the device once. The phone is made of polycarbonate plastic. We have no idea about the quality of the device, but expect average build quality. The phablet packs a 5.3-inch display with unknown resolution. Although, the screen size is large enough to enjoy multimedia content, but the strange part here is the unknown display resolution. We're expecting the phone to have either qHD or HD resolution.

The device is powered by a 1.2-GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot). This dual SIM phablet features a 13-mega pixel rear facing camera with Auto Focus and LED Flash. Also add a 5-mega pixel front facing camera. The makers have decided to put a 3200mAh Li Ion battery. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean comes out of the box. Other connectivity options include: 3G, Wi-Fi, dual SIM, USB 2.0, amongst others.

The hardware looks decent on paper, and the price point is also attractive. Stay tuned to GizBot for more updates.
