China’s Xiaomi To Sell Smartphones Offline through The Mobile Store
Even though the online retailing is becoming a common business model, it is no substitute for good old fashioned brick and mortar stores. It's hard to ignore millions of buyers who still prefer to shop offline, especially, in a country like India.
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has grown rapidly in the past months in the smartphone market. Its market share has grown four-fold in India. The handset manufacturer entered India last year, in association with Flipkart - India's largest online shopping site.

According to local media reports, Xiaomi has tied up with The Mobile Store - a well known retailer in India. The report said that Xiaomi plans to sell the Mi4 and Redmi Note 4G smartphones at The Mobile Store across 55 local retail stores in Delhi NCR, starting today. Both these smartphones will sell at Rs 19,999 and Rs 9,999, respectively, similar to the online rates on Flipkart.
"This will be the first time that we're getting into offline trade in India", Manu Jain, the company's India head of operation, told The Economic Times.
Xiaomi's Manu Jain further added that the company will continue to sell its devices on Flipkart. Xiaomi recently started selling its latest budget Redmi 2 smartphone in India at a price of Rs. 6,999.
The Chinese smartphone player recently tied up with Bharti Airtel to sell its Redmi Note 4G in the country. What's more, Xiaomi has now started selling accessories on its Mi India store. So far, there are only three accessories listed on the Mi India online store - Redmi Note flip case, Redmi soft gel protective case and Mi in-ear headphones.
