Samsung seems to have realized the fact that their Android-based handsets are going on a road to success in the Indian market, which would eventually make the Samsung Android handsets, the most desirable in India, thereby making Samsung the best in Business.
Samsung releases two of their latest handset models, which obviously runs in the Android Operating System. The two new models are known as Samsung I110 Illusion and Samsung R680 Repp, rival in terms of their specifications. Both these models are CDMA handsets supporting 2G as well as 3G networks.
Samsung Illusion and Samsung Repp support CDMA 1x EV-DO 3G and CDMA 800/1900 2G networks. The phones look quite ordinary. Samsung Repp has a classic touchphone look with 3 buttons and the screen with dimensional measurements of 110 x 57 x 12.2 mm. Samsung Illusion is a bit bigger than Repp in terms of the dimensions with a broad sleek look and has 4 buttons on it and a touchscreen. While Samsung Repp weighs about 105 grams, Illusion comes with 120g weight which doesn’t actually make much difference.
Reportedly, Samsung I110 Illusion and Samsung R680 Repp have capacitive TFT touchscreens with same resolution as well, about 320 x 480 pixels. But Samsung Illusion has a slightly bigger 3.5 inches screen while Repp doesn’t look half bad even with a 3.2 inch screen.
As in all smartphones, both these handsets have integrated proximity sensors, accelerometers etc, but Samsung Illusion also accepts multitouch inputs which Samsung Repp lacks. Both the handsets are compatible only with micro SD memory cards and facilitate a memory upgrade to a maximum size of 32 GB.
Samsung Repp and Illusion are equipped with 2 GB internal storage and 512 MB RAM. Both handsets also seem to share the lack of GPRS and EDGE connectivity support. But they make it up with a 2.4 Mbps 3G, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and WiFi Hotspot features. Jaw dropping sharing speed of both these Android Smartphones owes it all to the A2DP v3.0 Bluetooth, and also features are micro USB port of 2.0 version.
Although, Illusion and Repp possesses the same camera specifications – 3 Megapixels with 2048 x 1536 pixels, Illusion also comes with a secondary camera which makes it dominant as Repp lacks secondary cameras.
Performance wise, it’s obvious that the dominant Illusion still gets an edge with its 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and a Hummingbird chipset while an 800 MHz processor controls Repp. The Operating System version is also same for both handsets; running in Android v2.3 Gingerbread. With the same Li 1500 mAh batteries, Repp offers better battery efficiency. Price details in India for the handsets are not yet confirmed.
