Exclusive: Asus ZenFone Series Coming To India in Late Q2 2014
Taiwanese giant Asus, best known for its Nexus and FonePad range of tablets, is all set to enter Indian handset market in the end of Q2 of this year, a senior official over at Asus told GizBot.
Originally introduced at the CES 2014, the Asus ZenFone series powered by Intel will finally make its way into India during the June/ July time frame. The latest ZenFone series was first launched in Taiwan and China earlier this year, with the company also announcing that the Intel-powered Android handsets will be made available in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam.
Speaking exclusively to GizBot, Peter Chang, Regional Head - South Asia & India Manager System Business Group - ASUS, revealed that the company will launch the ZenFone series in the end of Q2 or in the beginning of Q3.
"We've have a plan to launch in India. Our target is to launch it in the end of Q2 to begin with Q3, so but the detailed launch will be shared at a later stage. We'll launch the whole series not only one".

This is the first time the company has openly talked about its plans to launch the Intel-powered Android smartphones into Indian market, although Asus has not publicly released any information in respect to pricing.
As mentioned previously, Asus first launched the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 at this year's CES 2014. The Intel-powered ZenFone series, which includes handsets ranging from 4-inch to 6-inch screen sizes, comes at affordable price range. The low-end Android phones are targeted at Asian markets.
The 4-inch model features a dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 processor and 1GB of RAM. It also features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 0.3-megapoixel front-facing shooter.
The 5-inch model has a 720p HD display and incorporates a 2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor, backed by 1GB of RAM. There's an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter.
The high-end ZenFone 6 incorporates similar processor to that of the 5-inch model, but the camera has been revamped to 13-megapixel (rear-facing) and a 2-megapixel (front-facing).
The ZenFone series runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Asus's native User interface (ZenUI) layer on top of it.
Meanwhile, Asus recently launched the Fonepad 7 Dual SIM 3G-VoiceCalling tablet in India at Rs. 12,999.
