Exclusive: Celkon To Launch Windows Phone 8.1 Handset Under Rs 10,000 in August 2014
Celkon is the newest name to enter the smartphone business in the low-range segment. And the company has made a successful entry into the segment with the official release of the new Celkon A35K.
The new Celkon A35K, arriving as a potential rival to the likes of Motorola Moto E and Micromax Unite, will now feature in the market as one of the lowest tagged smartphones running the brand new Android KitKat operating system.
Mr. Y. Pradeep, Head-Digital Management, Celkon Mobiles said, "A35K is Celkon's most economic and stylish smartphone in its category. With these features and price point, A35K is surely the best and would create a sensation in the market. Currently entry level segment for smartphones has 35% market share in India according to IDC."
"We aim to be a category leader in this segment by providing unique and advanced level features to this segment users. We will be coming up with 25 new smartphones most of the variants equipping with quad core processors, 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory in next 30 days," he added.

GizBot recently had a chance to speak with Mr. Pradeep at the Celkon event that was held in Bangalore for the release of the smartphone. And needless to say, we arrived with a few new details that's more than just a new phone release.
On asked about the other features the phone supports, Mr. Pradeep clearly mentioned that the Celkon A35K will support print on go, the all new immersive mode, that the phone will come pre-embedded with Opera Mini browser, and that it's available exclusively via snapdeal at Rs. 2,999.
On asked about the phone heading over to other retail chains, Mr. Pradeep specifically mentioned: "FYI this mobile wont be available in retail, not anytime soon."
On the topic of future plans of the company and what it's planning with its other upcoming devices, Mr. Pradeep told GizBot that while there will be another 15 devices heading over from the company in the next 30 days, all of the products will be quad cores, most of them with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory, and more importantly, all of them will support the latest Android KitKat OS.

Apart from that, as part of an exclusive detail about the company's ambitions going forward, the Celkon head told GizBot that the company will be heading into the market with a brand new Windows Phone device that will be priced under Rs. 10,000. Although release dates and other details for the same were not revealed but he confirmed that the WP 8.1 handset will be launched around August 2014.
Celkon released the recent A35K smartphone with Android KitKat, 1GHz processor, 32GB expandable memory option and a 1400mAh battery unit.
