Exclusive: Gionee Elife E8 With Better Camera On the Cards, S5.5 Successor Also Launching Soon

    China-based smartphone manufacturer Gionee has kicked off 2014 with a bang with a number of big name devices from the company slowly making their way into the Indian domestic market. And with the year just down to the starting three months, more is expected from the company to arrive later down the line.

    Gionee, as you may already know, offers smartphones via two different flagship series - the E series and the S series in the elite segment. The company has already introduced two of the most prominent smart devices out of that series recently - dubbed Gionee Elife S5.5 and the Gionee Elife E7. Now it seems like this is just the beginning with more such devices on the cards.

    Gionee Elife E8

    Gionee India head Arvind.R.Vohra was recently in an exclusive interview with GizBot where he revealed a number of details about the upcoming plans the company harbors in its quest to reach the top of the Indian domestic pile. And apart from that, it was also revealed as to how the company intends to make the successors for both the Gionee Elife S5.5 and the Gionee Elife E7.

    First up is the successor to the new Gionee Elife E7, which will be dubbed as the Gionee Elife E8 on release. Mr. Vohra revealed that compared to the recent Gionee Elife E7, which already sports a primary 16 MP camera, the next Gionee Elife E8 has every chance of sporting an even greater camera with extended resolution. Apparently, the new Gionee device in the E series has a chance of arriving with a 20 MP camera.

    Gionee Elife S5.5 Successor models

    Next in line is a potential successor to the Gionee Elife S5.5. As revealed via the new interview, while the Gionee Elife S5.5 has been highlighted via its name which introduces fans to its 5.5mm profile, the next phone in the same S series is expected to be even more slimmer and lighter than the current device. And although a specific number related to the same is yet to be revealed, it was revealed that the device is already under development.

     

    At the same, it was also revealed by a company insider that the Gionee Elife S5.5 will be treated to not one, but two different successors, to be launched this year itself. Although availability and pricing details of the devices are yet to be revealed.

    Release Dates

    Apart from that, it was stated that the next phone in the S series and Gionee Elife E8 will arrive in the market in six months, counting from the present day. However, the biggest information that was revealed during the interview is the fact that Gionee is planning to launch as many as 15 new smart devices during the current calender year - and that sheds light on the overall aspirations the company has with the domestic market.

    While this is all we have, as of now, related to new Gionee devices, more details are expected to arrive in the coming months related to the "upcoming" Gionee Elife E8 and the successor to the Gionee Elife S5.5.
