8 Android Settings You Should Change on Your Device
Lots of us are using Android smartphones for years and we are aware of its basic settings. However, their settings that you can tweak on your device, to enhance the user experience. Also, the Android OS comes with lots of features, where we tend to miss out some features. In today's article, we've prepared a listicle of changes you can make in the Android settings menu.
Add number row in keyboard
Most of us are comfortable with Gboard app and uses it too. If you belong to those who type fast, numbers will slow you down. As a solution Gboard allows you to have a separate number row on the keyboard. All you need to do is to go to Gboard settings ->Preference ->Turn on the toggle for Number row.
Hide Sensitive Content
Everybody knows that we can interact with notification on the lock-screen itself. It is better to hide our notification content from prying eyes if you are expecting something important. To do that, you can hide the content of the notification showing on the lock screen. To do that, Settings > Notifications -> Cog icon on the upper-right ->
Tap On the lock screen -> Select Hide sensitive notification content.
Chrome address bar to the bottom
If you are having a mobile with a big screen, reaching the top from the keyboard is a hell lot of work. If you are a user of Chrome, you can bring the address bar from top to bottom. The best thing about Chrome is that, it lets you tweak all sorts of fun and experimental settings. To do that, open the Google Chrome app and type "chrome://flags" into the address bar. Now navigate down to the setting to "Chrome Home Android" and select "Find in page,". Now search for the word "home" to go straight to the setting. and select "Enabled" from the drop-down menu.
No personalize ads
Google tracks all our activity and knows about us in and out. If you are someone who is paranoid about your privacy, you can opt out of personalized ads. To do that you can go to Settings -> Google > Ads ->Enable Opt out of Ads Personalization.
Enable instant auto lock
Enabling auto lock prevents your information from getting into mischevious people when they get their hands-on your device. In this case, you can lower your screen timeout by going to Settings > Display > Sleep.
Disable Doze off mode
Doze Off mode is a feature introduced in Marshmallow that helps you save battery on your Android device. But this can do harm than good by delaying notification on messaging apps, creates VPN issues and more. You can disable it by Settings -> Battery -> Tap the three-dot -> Select Doze and app hibernation -> Turn off the toggle the app you would like to exclude.
Instant apps
This feature helps to check in apps without needing to install it saving time and data. You can enable it by going to Settings -> Google -> Enable Instant Apps -> Tap Yes, I'm in to confirm.
Google Play protect
This is the security services for Android, providing protections and greater visibility into your device security. It is built into every device with Google Play and is always updating, and automatically takes action to keep your data and device safe. By default, the security option is turned off. You can turn it on going to Settings -> Google -> Security -> Google Play Protect -> Turn on the security threats.
