HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Which Is Worth Buying?
HTC has announced it's first A series smartphone and the first non-Nexus smartphone to have with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. The One A9 device has reached Indian boundaries, last week.
The company claims that the its latest offering - One A9 - will be a tough competition to the rival Apple's iPhone 6s. While, the look of both smartphone might look familiar, but there are quite a few difference between HTC One A9 and the iPhone 6s.
The HTC One A9 may have an iPhone look-alike, but it has some unique features like all-metal body to make it clearly HTC handset. Here is our First Impression of HTC One A9. We pit both devices to give you a better perspective, read on to know more.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Design
At the first glance, the One A9 look-alike an iPhone 6s with HTC logo and Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. In terms of design, both handsets sports a plain metal body with antenna lines along on top and bottom and both have slightly rounded corners.
The thickness of both devices are almost identical, the iPhone 6s measures 7.1 mm, while the One A9 at 7.26 mm. Interestingly, both weights exactly the same at 143 grams.
It seem like HTC has inspired directly from Apple iPhone design, but the company claims that this handset is an evolution of the iconic HTC One family design. However, the HTC One A9 is a distinct mix of One M8 and the iPhone 6/6s.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Display
The HTC One A9 has a slightly bigger display than the iPhone 6s. The One A9 sports a 5 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels, at 441 ppi pixel density and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.
While, the Apple iPhone 6s comes with a 4.7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD with a resolution of 750x1334 pixels, at 326 ppi pixel density and comes with 3D Touch display, Ion-strengthened glass, oleophobic coating.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Hardware
The HTC One A9 is powered by an 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 617 chipset with four cores with clock speed of 1.5GHz and four running at 1.2GHz and also comes with Adreno 405 GPU.
On the other hand, the iPhone 6s comes with Apple's latest A9 chipset and is powered by dual-core 1.84Ghz processor paired with PowerVR GT7600 GPU.
The One A9 comes in two models and the processor is paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM depending upon the storage variant, while the Apple iPhone 6s comes in three models and all three variants comes with 2GB of RAM.
In terms of storage, the One A9 is available in two storage variants: 16GB and 32GB coupled with 2GB and 3GB of RAM respectively. Both models has support to expand memory using a microSD card up to 200GB.While, the Apple iPhone 6s is available in three storage models: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB, but there is no option to expand memory using external microSD card.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Software
The operating system is the biggest difference between these two phones, as one runs the latest Android the other runs iOS. However, Both runs on brand new versions of their respective operating systems, in fact HTC One A9 is the first non-Nexus smartphone to run on the Android Marshmallow.
To be more specific, the HTC One A9 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC Sense UI on top, while the Apple iPhone 6s runs on iOS 9.

The HTC One A9 flaunts a 13 megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization with support to 1080p video, BSI sensor, autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, phase detection auto focus and 4 megapixel front-facing UltraPixel camera. The best part is it allows you to save images in RAW format.
On the other hand, the iPhone 6s has a 12 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization with support to 2160p video phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, face/smile detection, HDR and has 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Battery
The HTC One A9 is packed with 2150mAh battery which is claimed to juice the device up to 16 hours of talk time over 3G or 12 hours of HD video playback or 60 hours of audio playback. The HTC One A9 supports Quick Charge 2.0 for faster charging. It fast charging tech will charge the One A9 up to 75 percent faster and also features a power-saving mode to maximize battery life to last throughout the day.
While, the iPhone 6s is packed with 1715mAh battery, which is claimed to provide 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of HD video, or 50 hours of audio.
HTC One A9 vs Apple iPhone 6s: Other Features
Apple has introduced a set of new features in its latest offering like 3D Touch that senses pressure sensitive in the display with different levels of force and execute different commands. The new iPhone 6s also features Live Photos, which records 1.5 seconds of content before and after you take a photo. This features was seen in the HTC's Zeo.
There are some similarities in both One A9 and the iPhone 6s such as Fingerprint Scanner. HTC and Apple has embedded the fingerprint scanner on the home button.

The HTC One A9 is not a flagship device, but it is surely the best Android alternative to the iPhone 6s. The design of both smartphone are surprisingly similar including the all-metal body and features like fingerprint scanner, camera, sharper and brighter display.
