Xiaomi has announced the launch of company's latest flagship smartphone, the Mi Note 2 at an event in Beijing. It is the first smartphone from the Chinese tech giant to feature a two-sided curved display, and comes loaded with top-notch hardware and software features.
During the launch event, Xiaomi also announced a new Mi VR headset, which will work with its Mi Note 2 and Mi 5 smartphone series.
The company has not issued any official statement for Indian launch but we expect Xiaomi to make an announcement in the coming week.
Let's find out more about the new smartphone with the help of following points.
Company’s first dual-curved Display Smartphone
The Mi Note 2 is inspired from Samsung's Galaxy Edge series handsets and feature a 5.7-inch OLED display curved on both sides. Xiaomi calls it a two-sided curved panel and says that the company has used a flexible display on this device, which is more expensive.
Mi Note 2 has a 77.2 per cent screen to body ratio, NTSC 110 percent, and contrast of 100,000: 1 on the display. The company has used curved 3D Glass on both sides of the phone, with a metal frame in the middle, much like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
Snapdragon’s flagship CPU
Mi Note 2 is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor clocked 2.35GHz. The chipset support Quick Charge 3.0 to quickly charge the battery.
The phablet has Adreno 530 GPU to handle graphical intensive tasks.
No Dual-camera setup
It was believed that Mi Note 2 will sports a dual-camera setup but instead features a 22.56MP rear camera with a Sony IMX318 Exmor RS sensor, an f/2.0 aperture. The camera has Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), Electronic Image Stablization (EIS) with its own 3-axis gyroscope for 4K video stabilisation.
The front has an 8MP shooter with Sony IMX268 Exmor RS sensor, and an f/2.0 aperture. The front camera supports group selfie feature and Auto Beautify 3.0.
Big Battery and Good on Connectivity
Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is backed by a large 4070mAh battery unit with Quick Charge 3.0 support. As far as connectivity goes, the company is touting LTE speeds up to 6000Mbps on the downlink, with 3x carrier aggregation. The Mi Note 2 will also have HiFi sound quality, SAP high-precision GPS and NFC support in addition to support for global LTE bands: 6 types, 37 bands.
Xiaomi is also offering Mi Pay support with Mi Note 2.
Launched in Multiple Variants
