Desi smartphone maker, Micromax has announced its latest flagship smartphone the Canvas 5 in India, yesterday. The company has tried a new thing in its mobile line-up by providing a leather-like back cover.

The Canvas 5 comes in Black color variant with metal frame and Tan color with golden frame at a price of Rs. 11,999. It will sell through all retail channels including online and offline stores. Find out the best and worst features of the Canvas 5!

The smartphone will face a tough competition from the aforementioned smartphones like Xiaomi Mi 4i and the Moto G (3rd Gen).

The Micromax Canvas 5 sports a 5.2 inch IPS full lamination display with 1920x1080 pixels, which is translated into 423ppi and 450 nits brightness alongside of 2.5D arc glass, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

While, the Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels at 441ppi pixel density along with Corning glass protection. On the other hand, the Moto G (3rd Gen) sports a 5 inch IPS LCD display at a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The Canvas 5 is clocked at 1.3GHz Octa-Core 64-bit processor embedded with MediaTek MT6753 along with 450MHz Mali-T720 MP2 as GPU besides 3GB RAM under the hood and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

The Xiaomi Mi 4i is powered by Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 at a clock speed of 1.7GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with MIUI 6.0 on top.
While, the third-gen Moto G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 chipset clubbed with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB/ 2GB of RAM at a clock speed of 1.4GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone also runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system.

All three smartphone comes with 13 megapixel primary camera on the back with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. The difference is that the Micromax Canvas 5 features a Samsung 3M2 sensor and PDAF. There is also a flash for front-facing camera in the Canvas 5 smartphone.

On the storage, the Canvas 5 is equipped with 16GB of inbuilt memory, with an expansion option of up to 64GB via microSD card. While, the Xiaomi Mi 4i comes in two storage models: 16GB and 32GB, but there is no option to expand memory.

On the other hand the Moto G (3rd Gen) also comes in two storage variants including 8GB and 16GB, with an option to expand memory up to 32GB using a microSD card slot.
