Motorola launched two flagship models last year, the Moto X Style and the Moto X Play. With the Moto X Style having the big specifications and price tag, the cheaper and lower-specced Moto X Play got lost in the midst of all the hype. Turns out, the X Play isn't really a bad smartphone for its price; in fact it is a great one. With specifications like a massive 3630 mAh battery, Snapdragon 615 processor and stock Android Marshmallow, the Moto X Play is a smooth device and quite bang for the buck. It sells at around Rs. 17,000 in India, exclusively via Flipkart.

Another one of the mid-range smartphones, the OnePlus X was the company's second launch for 2015. With a unique design - glass and metal elements - the OnePlus X stood out in the crowd of larger, wider screens. In a compact shell and a 5-inch Full HD screen, the OnePlus X is undoubtedly one of the most well built smartphones of last year, with specifications enough to give competition to other OEMs. It has 3GB of RAM and is powered by the Snapdragon 801 processor. Priced at just Rs. 17,000, the OnePlus X is a great option if you are looking to buy a compact and sleek phone without comprising on the specifications.

Launched alongside the larger and better Nexus 6P, the Nexus 5X was quite overshadowed as an inferior device. But the truth is that it is one of the best smartphones of 2015, except for that flimsy plastic body. With specifications like Snapdragon 808 chipset, 2GB RAM, fingerprint sensor, a 12MP camera and a Full HD display, the Nexus 5X runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow to provide a smooth and lag-free user experience.

The LG Nexus 5X is a good choice for someone looking to buy a quality smartphone under Rs 30,000. After receiving several price cuts recently, it is a killer deal especially for Nexus fans. The 16GB model costs Rs 27,900 while the 32GB version is available at a price of Rs 31,900. Both the smartphones are available at a limited-period discount of Rs 4,000 on online portals.

Asus has always been known to be a first mover for a lot of aspects in the smartphone field. The Zenfone 2 was the first smartphone to have 4GB of RAM, the Zenfone range was the first to incorporate Intel mobile processors and now with the Zenfone Zoom, Asus has accomplished what very few could do in terms of features, providing optical zoom on a smartphone. Managing to make a smartphone with such camera specifications, slim enough, is in itself a big feat. The smartphone is very pricey at around Rs. 38,000 but the specifications are no less than a flagship. It has an Intel 2.5 GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB memory and of course, that brilliant camera module with optical zoom and OIS.

While LG's only flagship smartphone for 2015 was the G4, the company also silently launched a dark horse - the LG V10. Termed as the early successor to the LG G4, the V10 is one of the first smartphones in the world to provide complete manual controls in the camera app for photos and videos. It also has some decent specifications like Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a 16MP camera with OIS. MKBHD, video reviewer, also recently praised the smartphone for its hardware. Unfortunately, LG V10 hasn't yet made its way into the Indian market but is expected to soon.
