Xiaomi is on a launch spree! A couple of days back, the company announced its first ever laptop, dubbed as Mi NoteBook Air. Today it has unveiled its rumored Redmi Pro smartphone under its Redmi product line.
The USP of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is that it features dual rear cameras and an OLED display. Placed as a premium smartphone, the Redmi Pro is also the first Xiaomi smartphone to bring the aforementioned features on board.

The company also mentioned in a press note that it has sold 110 million Redmi phones across the world in three years, equivalent to 1.2 units sold every second. With the launch of Redmi Pro, the company will be pitting against its rivals such as LeEco Le Max 2, OnePlus 3, and the recently launched Zopo Speed 8.

Metal body design for the premium look:
A metal body has kind of become the must-have for most new generation smartphones. In such a scenario, why would Xiaomi want its new smartphone to lack the charm of metal! The Redmi Pro dons a brushed aluminum metal body to have a premium look and feel. It has 2.5D curved glass on front, and a metal rear panel. It measures in at 8.15mm in thickness and 174g in weight. The phone also features a fingerprint scanner.

One of the highlights of the Xiaomi Pro is its OLED display. It is the company's first smartphone to adorn an OLED display that also gives it an edge over competitors. It flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD screen with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. As per the company claims, "the display has a contrast ratio of 60,000:1, with 100% of the NTSC colour gamut, resulting in extremely vibrant colours that give users a great viewing and gaming experience."

A beast feeding on deca-core Chipset!
The phone is equipped with a flagship-grade Helio X25 processor that brings deca-core on table. The chipset is paired with Mali-T880 GPU to take care of graphics. According to the company, "the Helio X25 processor offers improved graphics performance that is 180% more powerful than the previous generation, with a corresponding 40% drop in power consumption."
High RAM with a massive 128GB Native storage:
Speaking of the storage specs, the phone has been launched in three versions, including a 3GB RAM version that combines 32GB ROM, a 3GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant, and a 4GB version that features a massive 128GB internal storage. All three versions support microSD card as well.

Dual camera set up
Another key specification of the Redmi Pro is its dual-camera. It is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to come with dual rear cameras. The primary camera uses a 13MP Sony IMX258 sensor, and is supported by a secondary rear camera with a 5MP Samsung sensor. The dual cameras on Redmi Pro are capable of shoot simultaneously, and use depth of field processing to combine the photos and offer bokeh effect. The company says that its dual-camera set up can work together in real time to calculate the distance of objects in the scene, and let users select the focus point in photos after a shot is taken.
A big battery to power up the device:
The Redmi Pro is powered by a 4050mAh battery, which should last for a day of mixed use. The phone also features quick charge technology to charge the battery quickly.

The phone features Type-C USB reversible port for faster data transfer speed, and charging. Other connectivity options in the phone include dual-SIM support (hybrid), microSD card slot 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ AGPS and other standard features.

Pricing and availability:
As far as the pricing of the phone is concerned, the 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM version has been priced for RMB 1499 (approx. Rs 15,060), while the 3GB RAM+64GB ROM costs RMB 1699 (roughly Rs 17,065). The most premium 4GB RAM+128GB ROM variant has been priced for RMB 1999 (about Rs 20,080).
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro will be available in gold, grey and silver colours, in China on Mi.com and at Mi Home stores starting August 6th. The company has not revealed its launch details for smartphone market in India.
