Galaxy S4: Next Gen S3 Successor to Arrive With Advanced Wireless Charging and Dock [Rumor Roundup]
Rumors regarding the upcoming flagship smartphone of Samsung - Galaxy S4 have been crashing all over the tech world every alternate day, while the South Korean tech giant remains tight lipped about soon-to-be unveiled S3 successor. The latest one comes in from a Korean source.
According to a Korean website DDaily, Samsung will be selling a special back cover for Galaxy S4 and a wireless charging dock, which will have to be purchased separately. Unfortunately, the source has not revealed the price of these accessories.
Further, the report revealed that Samsung might be using a more advanced wireless charging technology named resonant magnetic coupling, that allows the users to charge the handset from about 2 meters. Being the second Android device to receive the wireless charging feature (first one is LG Nexus 4), Galaxy S4 will definitely be superior as compared to its scarce rivals (few smartphones with wireless charging).
4.99 Inch 1080p Display
At the CES 2013, Samsung has been spotted displaying its roadmap for this year stating that a 4.99 full HD 1080p display will be launched in Q1 2013. Several reports have started crashing in since then claiming that the rumored Galaxy S4 could make use of this display.
There is an increased possibility for this as Galaxy S3 sports a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and its successor could come with a slightly larger 4.99 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.
Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
Though earlier rumors claim that Galaxy S4 might run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, there are speculations suggesting that the handset could make use of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. These rumors are getting stronger as Optimus G2, the LG offering that is highly anticipated is confirmed to come with Key Lime Pie on board. Hence, there is an higher probability for Samsung to employ the same in Galaxy S4.
Unbelievable 128GB storage
Speaking of storage, there are rumors claiming that the handset will be launched in 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB variants. 128GB of onboard storage for a smartphone is something that the tech world has not witnessed so far, however, the iPhone 5S is also rumored to come with such a massive storage capacity.
It is to be noted that at the time of launch, Samsung claimed that Galaxy S3 will be available in 16GB/32GB/64GB variants, however, the smartphone was released only in 16GB and 32GB versions and the 64GB variant is still awaiting its release. This arises a doubt on how far the rumor of 128GB could be true.
13MP Camera in Tow
Going back to the pre-launch days of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, Samsung was rumored to equip a 13MP rear camera in the handsets, however, it failed to do so. The same goes with Galaxy S4, as the handset is rumored to have a 13MP rear shooter.
With the launch of Sony Xperia Z and Huawei Ascend D2 with 13MP camera at the back, there could be a chance for Samsung to also incorporate the same in its offering in order to make the smartphone battleground interesting.
