Chinese phone maker, Gionee, has been trying hard to crack into the Indian smartphone market, which is already filled with best handsets like Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1, Nokia Lumia 1020 and more. The company, which recently launched it's flagship handset Elife E6 in the Indian market, has also released another phablet dubbed as GPad G3 at Rs. 9,699. Going by the specs, the successor to the GPad G2 launched back in May this year, Gionee GPad G3 comes packed with a 5.5-inch capacitive touch screen display and offers a FWVGA resolution rated at 854 × 480 pixels.
To talk about power, the phablet comes powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor coupled with 1GB RAM and it runs on Android Jelly Bean v4.2. The handset is also accompanied by PowerVR SGX544 GPU.
Moving on to camera, the handset features 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash along with a 0.3-megapixel front-facing VGA camera.
There is a regular connectivity options included in the handset like 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and aGPS. Apart from that, the handset also supports a dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with Dual Standby.
The 9.6mm thick GPad G3 also houses a 4GB internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card and the phablet draws its energy from a 2250 mAh battery.
The Gionee GPad G3 comes in Black and White color variants.
Competition check
Since Indian smartphone market is full of handsets with quad core processors and Dual SIM support, Gionee will have to push a little bit harder to make its presence felt. Moreover, the phablet category has been bombarded with more than expected number of devices already.
When it comes to affordable phablets with quad core processors and dual SIM support, most come from the Indian manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn, Lava among others. Apart from these manufacturers, Samsung has been ruling smartphone market for past couple of years.
However, to be precise, devices like Micromax Canvas HD A116, Karbonn S5 Titanium, Micromax Canvas 4, Lava Iris 504Q, XOLO Q1000, Videocon A55 HD, Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi-525 would be few devices that GPad G3 will be competing with. All these handsets fall in a phablet category and comes with a quad core processors along with a dual SIM support.
