How to Install Android Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy S4: Here are 10 Easy Steps
So what if your Samsung handset is a tad bit older compared to your friends'. Technology is for all, and technology doesn't discriminate. And you have perfectly good reason to offer that old handset of yours to some updated love in the form of the new Android Lollipop.
If you are one of the users of the previously popular Samsung Galaxy S4, brace yourself for some good news as this affect you. The new Android Lollipop update is already available for your old handset. And although not official, it doesn't really matter since you phone is anyway past its prime days.
As of recently, Samsung's marquee Galaxy S5 handset, alongside the Galaxy S4, have joined the league of non-Nexus devices to receive the unofficial build of CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) that features Android 5.0 Lollipop. Thanks to XDA developers, both the fifth and fourth generation Galaxy S series smartphones have now got an early bird Android 5.0 treatment via CM12 builds.
But how do you go about downloading and installing it? Well, it isn't rocket science and you are perfectly capable of following the procedure yourself. However, note that these builds are still in their beta version. Hence, bugs will come as a part for the package and cannot be installed as a daily driver.
Before heading into the main procedure, make sure to back up your data ahead of using custom recovery like CWM or TWRP. Also, you will have to enable USB debugging mode from Settings -- Developer Options.
Also ensure that your Android device has above 80% battery charge. Moreover, check the model number of Galaxy S4 and install CM12 ROM accordingly. Installing these on an incorrect variant might brick the device.
Note: Perform the following actions on your handset at your own risk as there are chances that your handset might start acting up strangely. GizBot or OneIndia isn't responsible for any damages.
