How to Root Xiaomi Mi 4 Without Losing Warranty: 8 Simple Steps
Rooting android devices have been in practice since the time Apple iPhone started to get jailbroken to get apps and other custom settings for free and most importantly get more user rights over your device. Well to be honest android gives you more user rights by allowing you to get more storage space by deleting pre-installed apps and other thing which isn't of any use.
The Mi 4 flaunts a 5-inch 1920×1080 (441 ppi) IPS LCDOS display. It is clocked by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset. The Mi 4 has 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 as GPU. Coming to storage it consist of 16GB or 64GB, which is not expandable. On connectivity font it supports Dual Band 802.11b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS GSM 850/900/1800/1900. It has a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front snapper. The whole show is managed by a 3080mAh non removal battery and its based on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 with MIUI V6.
But, all of us ignore the fact that by rooting our android devices we are destroying the warranty of the phone and might get our phone bricked too. If a successful root operation is completed, then we can enjoy all the rights and can use our device to its full capacity, if not, then you have two options left, which is either throw the device away or try to get your backup running.
Users need to enter the Clockwork recovery mode of any device by holding down the volume up + Home button + Power button for a few seconds until the device restarts into the clockwork recovery mode.
Your phone should have 90% charge before any kind of rooting operation is done. A backup should be done through your phone which will act to save you if something goes wrong during the rooting process. Last but no the least, do not root your device if you aren't familiar with the process because it can lead you to bricking which means your warranty is not valid any more and your device is dead (R.I.P).
Users need to download the developer version of the ROM from here and save it on their desktop. After which they need to rename the downloaded file to ‘update.zip'. Keep in mind it must be update.zip any other variations even Update.zip will not work. The ROM needs to be uploaded in the user's internal or external memory for the device to read.
The user needs to start the updater application on their Mi4, following which they need to tap on the menu and select restart in recovery mode.
The touch screen will be non-functional when in recovery mode. The volume up & down button will be functional for scrolling up and down with the power button having the function to select.
The user needs to wipe the cache and select 'Wipe and Reset' which clears all the memory and drives too.
The user needs to select the update Rom option and choose the recommended ROM as the process is still on with the help of volume up and down plus the power button which is selected.
Right after the installation is done the device will restart and the user will have to secure the application.
The user has to check user securities and switch on root permissions to have a successful root operation. Plus download triangle away if a yellow triangle shows up during a second restart for normal use.
