HTC 8X Price Slashed: Will You Prefer Buying WP8 Smartphone or Wait for HTC One Market Release?

It seems like HTC is now ramping to sell its offerings in full swing the consumers. While the flagship device - One is awaiting its official release into the Indian premises, which is to happen this month, the high-end Windows Phone 8 smartphone - 8X seems to have received a price cut.

According to a listing on online retailer Infibeam, 8X, which was initially priced at Rs 35,032 approximately is now available after a slight price drop at Rs 33,399.

On the other hand, another well known online retailer Saholic has listed the HTC One at Rs 42,900 on its website as an upcoming launch. Further, the 'Tell me when available' button on the listing claims that the HTC One will be available by May 7, 2013.

Now, for those consumers in India, who are hunting the market to get hold of a high-end smartphone, will you choose to buy the Windows Phone 8 offering or wait for the Android king to launch in the country?

Given that the 8X has received an online price drop and the Android based One is yet to penetrate into the nation, which one will be your choice? Read the GizBot comparison of the day below.

Form Factor: 8X carries a dimension of 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1 mm and weighs in at 130 grams, whereas, One boasts dimension of 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm and weighs around 143 grams.

When it comes to display, 8X houses a 4.3 inch multi-touch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 342 ppi pixel density.

On the other hand, One packs a 4.7 inch multi-touch Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 469 ppi pixel density.

Both the handsets have the Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, but the full HD display on HTC One boasts an eye-popping pixel density of 469 ppi, which is amazing. Further, using Super LCD 3 display technology will offer faster response times.

Processor: In this segment, One scores more with a quad core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor as compared to the dual core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Obviously, the quad core and faster Qualcomm chip increases the power management capabilities, multimedia performance and offer fast graphic processing,

Operating System: Coming to the interesting segment of the comparison, 8X is powered by Windows Phone 8 and One runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, which is upgradeable to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Speaking of software features, Windows Phone 8 has enhanced features like dynamic Live Tile Information, social network integration in the People hub, Skydrive and Office 365 documents synchronization, Facebook-events integrated calendar, visual voicemail, threaded email conversations support and many more.

On the other hand, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes with features including Photo Sphere camera, Gesture Typing, Miracast, DayDream, improved notifications, quick settings, support to multiple user accounts, improved Google Now and more.

Camera: 8X has an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2.1MP front camera with 1080p video recording capability.

In comparison, One flaunts a 4MP UltraPixel camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 2.1MP front camera with HDR and 1080p video recording. Moreover, UltraPixel camera is similar to the one used in advanced compact cameras and to offer better low light performance.

Storage: Both the handsets lack a micro SD card slot for additional storage support, but 8X has 16GB internal storage and One has 32GB/64GB internal storage capacity, which must be sufficient to store all the files. Also, 8X has a 1GB RAM and One has a 2GB RAM.

Connectivity: Both the handsets come packed with advanced connectivity options including fast 3G speeds of about 100Mbps, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and micro USB 2.0. Further, One has an Infrared port as well.

Battery: 8X is loaded with a 1,800 mAh Li-Ion battery and One is powered by a 2,300 mAh Li-Po battery.

Other Features: HTC 8X, being a Windows Phone 8 handset comes bundled with 7GB free SkyDrive cloud storage service and One, which has Sense 5 UI comes with features including BlinkFeed, Zoe, BoomSound and Sense Voice. Moreover, both the smartphones have Beats Audio integration as they are from HTC.

Apart from these aspects, HTC offers 8X in different color options including California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red and Limelight Yellow. At the same time, One is available in Black, Silver and Red variants.

Price: As mentioned above, HTC 8X is available online starting at Rs 33,399 and HTC One has been launched in India at Rs 42,900, and is yet to hit the retail stores.

Verdict

Though both HTC 8X and One are high-end offerings from the Taiwanese tech giant, the Android behemoth comes with an enhanced display quality, quad core processor offering better performance, improved camera capability, increased internal storage and a larger battery to support all this.

However, at the end, both the smartphones are based on rival operating systems and hence, the buying decision might depend on the consumers on the basis of which one they like to experience, and of course, on the price of the handset.
