HTC Butterfly Gears Up For India Launch: A Look at Top Software Features of Fierce iPhone 5 Rival

"Guess what's flying into town soon?." This is the latest post by HTC India official Facebook Page, which has sparked the tech media world in India giving all the obvious hints towards the launch of the Taiwanese tech giant latest flagship handset in the market - which is none other than - the 1080p incorporated handset - Butterfly.

This can be said, as after analyzing the official shots of Butterfly compared to the teaser image, the design is quite reminiscent to the former, hence confirming the hints at the possibility of Butterfly's release into the Indian smartphone market.

The heavyweight smartphone which is the international version of the US specific Droid DNA and Japan specific J Butterfly.

Further, a report from AndroidOS claims that HTC Butterfly will hit the retail shelves in India in two weeks, which is by the end of January at a price of Rs 44,000. Contradictorily, a BGR India report claims that the handset will be launched in India at an MRP of Rs 49,900 and of course a lesser street price.

Butterfly Specifications

Detailing on specs, Butterfly boasts a 5 inch LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, 1.5GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS topped with HTC Sense 4 UI, 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor, 2.1MP front camera for video calling, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.

The handset comes packed with connectivity features including HDMI out, micro-USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a 2,020mAh battery of undisclosed backup.

As several reports claim that the Butterfly is on its to India and hence, for those consumers who are interested in buying the handset, Gizbot is presenting a list of software features in Butterfly.

Full HD Display

As mentioned above, HTC Butterfly not only sports a spacious 5 inch display but incorporates full HD technology with a 1080p screen resolution, which translates to 440 ppi pixel density. HTC Butterfly - Competitor to iPhone 5?

If HTC launches Butterfly in India at Rs 44,000, the handset could become a premium priced smartphone similar to Apple iPhone 5. iPhone 5 is priced at Rs 45,500, Rs 52,500 and Rs 59,500 for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants respectively.

When it comes to specs, iPhone 5 sports a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a new Apple A6 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera with iSight technology, 1.2MP front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, 3G, micro USB 2.0 and a battery with 8 hours talk time and 225 hours standby.

Though iPhone 5 did not have Retina display, it has a 4 inch display with 1136 x 640 pixel resolution and 326 ppi pixel density. However, Butterfly with a 440 ppi display could easily knockout the Apple offering.

From the other specs, it is evident that Butterfly with better specifications and advanced software features could be a competitor to the Apple iPhone 5.
