Smartphones are now seen as a mobile manufacturer"s biggest weapon to exert their supremacy over other manufacturers. They are the ultimate platform where manufacturers can display their technological advancements and technical knowhow to the maximum. The quality of a Smartphone is a direct indication of the creative and innovative capabilities of the manufacturer. As such the Smartphone segment has always seen fierce competition among manufacturers as none of the players wanted to lose out in the race.

One of the pioneers in Smartphone technology is Taiwan based HTC mobiles. The company has been dedicated to the Smartphone industry ever since its inception way back. They have produced some of the world"s best and finest Smartphones that are high on technological and innovative concepts.

Today we make a comparative study of two of HTC"s Smartphones that are now available in the Indian market as well. The models under study are HTC ChaCha and HTC Wildfire features. Both of them are mid range phones that are available in the Indian market. The Wildfire has been around for a while whereas the ChaCha has just been launched.

HTC Wildfire has a large 3.2 inch full touch screen based display that is capacitive in nature whereas HTC ChaCha feature is it has a smaller screen of just 2.6 inches but the phone is both a touch and type model. It incorporates a physical QWERTY keypad and that makes up for the smaller display screen.

On the camera front both HTC ChaCha and HTC Wildfire offer similar rear cameras of 5 Mega Pixel rating. It is enough to capture all your precious moments in good quality. The phones also have 720p video recording feature. But the Wildfire has a VGA front camera for enabling video calling on 3G networks. This feature is absent on the ChaCha.

The phones are high on multimedia features and boasts of support to a wide variety of multimedia formats like MP3, MP4, WMV, AAC+ and even high definition h263 and h264 video formats. But the Wildfire has an FM radio with RDS that is missing in the ChaCha.

On the connectivity front both the phones have all the modern day standard options like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE and high speed 3G internet access with data transfer speeds of up to 14 Mbps. But the ChaCha has the latest version in many of these like for example Bluetooth 3.0 in comparison with the 2.1 Version found in the Wildfire.

Both have good internal memory and offer external Micro SD expansion of up to 32 GB.

The pricing is the key area where HTC Wildfire triumphs over the HTC ChaCha as it has almost all features found in ChaCha and some more but is still priced at around Rs 10500 whereas the ChaCha retails for around Rs15500.

Thus the winner in this battle is definitely HTC Wildfire!
