HTC Corporation's Desire 616 Budget Octa-Core Smartphone Launched At Rs 16,900: Top 10 Rivals

HTC's Indian adventure may not have started off in the right note, but it's making sure that the rest of it is something of an importance. The company has already released a number of handsets in the market and still on the verge of releasing a few more.

Keeping up with the trend of releasing new smartphones, HTC has today unveiled the brand new Desire 616 handset that primarily falls under the budget segment: the most loved segment, as far as the Indian smartphone business is concerned.

Doing a recap on the specs of the new Desire 616, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch 720p display and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core CPU (ARM Cortex A7 octa-core architecture) coupled with 1GB of RAM. It runs on Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) layered with HTC Sense 5.5 UI.

The phone has an 8-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 2-megapixel front facing shooter as well. Connectivity options include: Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G. It houses 4GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot for further increase up to 32GB. And it is powered by a 2,000mAh battery.

The Desire 616 dual SIM is currently set to be available in Dark Grey and Pearl White, and will be available for a price tag of Rs. 16,900 starting next week.

But while all that looks well and good for the new Desire handset from HTC, it will know that it isn't the only one in the market offering such specs at that price tag.
