Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC unveiled its latest handset in the Desire series called the Desire 816 in the Indian market on April 21st. But the maker of the HTC One (M8) didn't bother to release the device then. The smartphone was initially suppose to go on sale in the beginning of this month but HTC didn't take the chance to do that.
However, today the handset has started selling via third party online retail site Infibeam at the price of Rs. 24,450. The official price of the handset is Rs. 500 lesser than that at which the aforementioned e-commerce site is offering now.
Anyways, the device is one of the best mid-range device that can be bought in the Indian market at the moment. It comes with a large 5.5-inch 720p HD display. It is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS layered with the company's proprietary Sense 5.5 UI.
Although it it lacks the company's popular ultrapixel camera, the latest Desire 816 is not a bad imaging device as it features 13MP front-facing camera with a single LED Flash along with a 5MP front-facing shooter.
Connectivity options offered in the Desire 816 are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and it should be noted that it is a Dual-SIM device. Native storage unit is seated at 8GB but yes, you get the option to expand it via microSD card. It is powered by a 2600 mAh battery.
The latest offering from HTC will combat against the likes of Sony Xperia T2 Ultra.
