The long time rumored HTC Desire 820 smartphone has been finally announced at the ongoing IFA 2014 tech show taking place in Berlin. Just yesterday, Samsung and Sony also pulled off the curtains from their latest flagship devices - the Galaxy Note 4 Edge and Xperia Z3 respectively at the same prestigious tech fair.
It is worth mentioning that the Desire 820 is the company's latest 64-bit Android smartphone. This is one of the devices which utilizes Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 octa core CPU that has been hardly used by premium handset makers until now.
Since HTC has also promised to bring the Android L version to the phone, which is an apt software for the aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC. However, it remains a mystery as to how the combination of the two components would be of advantage to the Desire 820 smartphone.

The Desire 820 is set to launch around the globe in carrier stores and from major retailers starting early this month, though HTC did not discuss pricing details. The device will be available in glossy marble white, matte tuxedo grey, glossy santorini white, glossy milky-way grey, glossy tangerine white, glossy saffron grey, glossy flamingo grey, glossy blue mist and glossy monarch orange.
HTC Desire 820: Key Specifications
The Desire 820 sports a 5.5 inch HD display and it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core CPUs clocked at 1.5 GHz and 1.0 GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM and runs on Android KitKat version.
Connectivity options include: Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX enabled , Wi-Fi, DLNA, HTC Connect, micro-USB 2.0 port . Moreover, the phone features a dual nano SIM slot. What is also an integral part of the phone is the support for 4G LTE network which runs on FDD (Bands 1,3,7,8 ) and TDD (Bands 38, 39, 40, 41 ).
Although, the handset doesn't come with the dual rear camera set-up like the one in the HTC One M8, however, it does offer a high end 13MP rear camera with BSI sensor, f/2.2, 28mm lens, 1080p video recording. Also add a monstrous 8MP frontal snapper with BSI sensor, which is capable of shooting video at 1080pixels quality.
Internal storage is seated at 16GB and it can be further enhanced up to 128 GB via microSD card.
The Desire 820 comes with a 2600 mAh Li-polymer battery, which according to the company will offer a talk time: of up to 22.4 hours on 3G network and standby time of up to 424 hours.

For high quality selfies, the HTC Desire 820 features an 8MP front-facing camera, which is quite capable of delivering impressive shots.
