HTC Launches Waterproof and Dust proof J Butterfly with One M8 Specs and Bigger Battery

Now we are all acquaint to the fact that, Japan and South Korea get the best of the smartphones sooner than other markets. This time, HTC has announced its latest J Butterfly (HTL23) smartphone in Japan making the indigenous customers more than happy. Happy in a lot of ways.

First of all, the Taiwanese manufacturer has launched J Butterfly with specifications similar to its flagship model HTC One (M8).

Secondly, the J Butterfly also comes bundled with in-ear JBL headset, but users interested in the Dot View Case will have to buy it separately.

And last but not the least, HTC J Butterfly comes with IPX5, IPX7 and IP5X performance which will keep the phone undamaged from water and dust. In short, HTC J Butterfly competes with the likes of Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 being waterproof and dust proof.

As per the company press release, the HTC J Butterfly will be launched in Rouge Red, Canvas White and Indigo Blue color variants. Unfortunately, the company has not announced the pricing of the device as of now, however talking about the availability in other markets, we can expect the handset only after August, when the phone will be officially launched at HTC Conference Tokyo 2014 to be held in August 19, 2014.

HTC J Butterfly: Key Specifications

The latest offering from HTC comes with a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super LCD 3 display. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU coupled with 2 GB RAM. It runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with HTC Sense UI layered on top.

Similar to HTC One M8, the J Butterfly comes with dual rear camera, which uses a 13MP primary rear camera sensor with dual LED Flash and a 2MP secondary rear camera to capture depth information. On the front, there is a 5MP front-facing shooter as well.

Further, the HTC J Butterfly houses 32GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Connectivity options include 4G LTE / WiMAX 2 + / WiFi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4 and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and also add a Nano SIM and IR LED.

On the build aspect, the HTC J Butterfly features a 10 mm thick body that weighs 156 grams and is also IPX5 / IPX7 certified which means that it is a dust and water resistant device. Users will get to see a Dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers and a 2700 mAh battery powering the smartphone.

In the related news, Taiwanese smartphone maker is also rumored to come up with Windows Phone variant of the HTC One M8 smartphone, later this year.
