Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC announced its flagship of the year - HTC One (M8) back in February 2014. The giant handset is obviously the refined and efficient variant of the company's popular One series smartphones. However, today, the company has made the handset official for the Indian market.

Yes, the HTC One (M8) has been officially launched in India at Rs. 49,900. The smartphone will come in Gunmetal Gray and Glacial Silver variants and will start selling from the early May. Well, the news does not end over here, as HTC has also said that the Google Play Edition of the HTC One (M8) will hit the online market in the coming day and at the same price.

Well, HTC One M8 is powered by the latest Qualcomm chipset Snapdragon 801 very much like the latest offerings from Samsung and Nokia. However, HTC has made the attempts t oswipe the scores over here by the pricing strategy as the latest HTC One M8 is priced less than the hot-selling Samsung Galaxy S5, which holds a price tag of Rs 52,500.

Moving on to the specs, the HTC One (M8) comes with a 5.0-inch display offering a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it features a Corning Gorilla glass 3 protection as well.

Apart from the Quad Core processor Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5 GHz, the phone comes with Adreno 330 GPU coupled with 2 GB RAM. In terms of OS, it runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) layered with the company's proprietary Sense 6.0 UI.

Imaging is as always best in the HTC One devices, and this time also the company has chosen the UltraPixel primary rear camera with dual LED Flash, BSI Sensor,F/2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens. In fact, there are two rear cameras installed in the handset this time. The secondary rear camera helps to capture depth information of the subject. At the front there is a 5 MP front-facing shooter capable of taking great selfies and making video calls. The rear camera is capable of shooting Full HD (1080p) video with HDR mode as well.

The handset comes with a native storage capacity of 16GB and it is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

HTC One (M8) comes with 4G LTE support and other connectivity optiosn remain standard with the inclusion of 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX codec, NFC and GPS with GLONASS. You will also find MHL support in the device. The phone supports only nano SIM.

The smartphone which measures 9.35 mm thick and weighs160 grams comes powered with 2600 mAh battery.

HTC has also used the regular hardwares like the FM radio with RDS, HTC BoomSound, Dual front-facing stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers, and HTC Sense Voice. Moreover, you will also find a Infrared remote control featured in the device.

This is the premium handset that HTC has announced in India today. On the affordable side, which the company has made a resolution to focus this year, HTC also launched Desire 816 and Desire 210 in the same event.
