HTC One Max Global Launch Invite Set for October 15: Will The Huge Phablet Outdo These 5 Rivals?

Written By:

With the onset of October 2013, the tech industry is all abuzz with the talks about the upcoming launches this month. Since past few days, all the tech gossipers are talking about Nokia and HTC upcoming launches. While, a lot has been said and written about HTC One Max - the forthcoming phablet finally HTC has begun sending out invitations to celebrate the coming of HTC One Max, a rumored 5.7-inch Full HD phablet with built-in fingerprint sensor on the rear back.

Sources close to the Wall Street Journal have confirmed the existence of One Max. Moreover, HTC could announce the device in US on October 15, followed by an event in Hong Kong and Taipei. The invite (as seen above) reads "One finger opens up a big view. You are invited to immerse in the sound with us". This could mean that HTC One Max will indeed have a fingerprint sensor on the rear back and on the front expect BoomSound dual-frontal speakers.

There is no doubt that the One Max will be seen as a direct competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note 3. As per the latest rumor, HTC One Max is said to have a 5.7-inch Super LCD 3 display having Full HD 1080p resolution. Earlier it was speculated that we would be seeing even a bigger display.

Going by the latest leaks the HTC One Max will likely to have a 5.7-inch Full HD display. And it does make sense considering a 6-inch phablet appear too bulky to carry around.

Just in case if you have forgotten Nokia is all set to launch the Lumia 1520, a 6-inch FHD phablet having Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update , Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC , 2GB of RAM , 20MP PureView camera and a 3400mAh Li Ion battery.

The queue is endless, as Sony has already launched its massive 6.4-inch FHD Snapdragon 800 stuffed phone - the Xperia Z Ultra.

You must be thinking that the rumored HTC One Max would have a 5.7-inch FHD display, so the competition is in between the device having Full HD displays. That's the wrong way to perceive things. For HTC, Samsung is not the only sea that needs to be cross safely. The biggest challenge in front of HTC is Apple.

Recently we saw how Apple managed to sell its iPhone 5S in large number despite criticism. The iPhone 5S houses TouchID fingerprint sensor, it automatically recognizes your thumb on the home button. It's definitely a new way to unlock your mobile device. It is to be seen how HTC One Max recognizes your thumb. Whether HTC has incorporated any new software or not, is yet to be decoded.

Further, LG G2 could give a healthy competition to HTC One Max. The LG G2 has a 5.2-inch FHD display, but the real strength of G2 is the way you operate the device. The G2 is a button less handset with just one single power button placed at the rear back beneath camera module.

LG says "The unique Rear Key concept came from the realization when studying users that the larger the phone became, the more difficult it was to properly access the side keys. Moving the main buttons to the back of the phone gave users more control since this place was where individuals' index fingers are naturally located".

The success of HTC One Max is not only dependent on its features and specifications. The retail price of One Max is said to be on a higher side, which may draw criticism from mainstream consumers.

Now HTC is geared up to launch One Max in October; it's time to see the top 5 hard hitting smartphone rivals. Take a look!
