Taiwanese tech giant HTC is constantly unveiling a slew of smartphones across the global markets in order to regain its lost foothold in the smartphone arena. Recently, the company unveiled Butterfly - global variant of Droid DNA and J Butterfly and is also rumored to unwrap M7 (name yet to be confirmed) in early 2013.

In the meantime, HTC has quietly launched One SV, a mid-range Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone with impressive specifications including NFC chip, 4G LTE in selected regions and more at a special event in London on Wednesday. Also, last month, HTC came up with the non-LTE version of One SV dubbed as Desire SV with dual SIM support in India for Rs 22,590.

As of now, One SV will arrive in UK at first and will be offered by operator EE in the coming weeks, however, there is no official word on the price of the handset. According to Clove's (UK) listing, the phone is priced at £350 (approx. Rs 30,000) without contract. However, analysts assume that the handset will be priced at Rs 25,000 approximately.

Flavored with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, HTC One SV comes with a 4.3 inch Super LCD 2 capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz dual core S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, which can be expanded to 32GB via micro SD card slot, 5MP rear camera, 1.6MP front camera, NFC, 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 1,080 mAh battery.

As claimed by the company, One SV will support integration to cloud storage services including SkyDrive and Dropbox. Further, similar to the other HTC smartphones, One SV also comes with Beats Audio integration and some advanced features such as VideoPic and BSI sensors for better low light photography.

Galaxy S3 Mini, the miniature version of Galaxy S3, the hottest selling smartphone appeared online in India for a price of Rs 24,349. When it comes to specs, the handset sports a 4 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 800 x 400 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, 5MP rear camera, VGA camera front camera for video calling, 8GB/16GB internal storage options, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth, NFC, micro USB 2.0 and a 1,500 mAh Li-ion battery.

HTC One SV could be a stiff competitor of Galaxy S3 Mini with its larger display, faster processor and better front camera, but, it will have to sell at a lesser price tag to become a hit in India as Galaxy S3 Mini comes with Jelly Bean OS.

Japanese tech giant Sony has sizzled the tech market with a plethora of smartphone launches this year including Xperia S, Xpertia U, Xperia J, Xperia T and many more. Coming to Xperia U, the third handset in launched in the Xperia lineup, the handset was launched with Gingerbread operating system, it received the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade and now, it is getting upgraded to Jelly Bean.

One SV could be a rival to Xperia U as it houses a larger display, better front camera, NFC connectivity and dual core processor, but, the Sony offering is upgradeable to Jelly Bean and comes with an affordable price tag of Rs 14,999.

Nokia Lumia 710 was unveiled in October 2011 with a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 1.4GHz Scorpion Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango upgradeable to WP 78., 5MP rear camera, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage and a 1,300 mAh battery delivering 7.5 hours talktime and 400 hours standby.

With a price tag of Rs 14,999, Lumia 710 may be a cheaper device as compared to One SV, but, it lacks a front camera for video calling, micro SD card slot for expandable memory support and comes with a smaller display. However, the Nokia offering has a faster processor under its hood to make it more powerful.

Micromax, which is eyeing to become the leading smartphone vendor in India came up with the successor of A90 Pixel smartphone dubbed as A90S at Rs 12,999.

A90S Pixel has a 4.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling purposes, 4GB internal storage, 512MB, a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with aGPS, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and 1,600 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talk time and 174 hours standby.

With a faster processor, better front camera and NFC, One SV could be a rival to Micromax offering, however, the latter has an improved battery backup and is priced lower.

Priced at Rs 11,990, Karbonn smartphone has the potential to offer a touch competition to One SV in the budget conscious Indian market.
