The different smart phone manufactures are in a stiff competition with each other. With the advent of new smart phones into the market the manufactures try to incorporate the most cutting edge technology in their devices. Two of the most prominent figures in the smart phone market are HTC and Samsung.

HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket sports a very good industrial design and they have a sturdy feel to it. HTC vivid has dimensions of 128.8 mm x 67.1 mm x 11.2 mm and the over all weight of the device is 176.9 grams.

Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket has dimensions of 5.15 inch x 2.75 inch x 0.37 inches and has an over all weight of 132.1 gram. This makes Skyrocket more thinner and a less weight device when compared to HTC Vivid.

Both the phones feature 4.5 inch touch screen displays but differ in the resolution as well as technology used. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket has a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. This is a Super AMOLED display. Where as HTC Vivid has a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

It features an S-LCD capacitive touch screen. HTC has much more screen resolution but users claim that the brightness of the screen is not very much. The AMOLED display in the mean time offers advantages like high contrast ratios and better viewing angles along with superb colour production. Both the phones have dual cameras.

The main camera in both of them is of 8 mega pixels .They has auto focus features as well as LED flash for ensuring good quality pictures. The cameras can record videos too with HD clarity. HTC Vivid offers video recording with clarity of 1080 p and at a speed of 60 frames per second.

Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket has a dual-core processor that has a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. In the mean time HTC has a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Qualcomm APQ8060 and a Snapdragon chipset.

HTC comes with two different options for internal memory, a 16 GB version or the 32 GB version. The system memory of the phone is 1 GB. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket has an internal memory of 16 GB and same system memory capacity as that of HTC. Both the phones have option to increase the external memory by the addition of a microSD type memory card. The external memory can be increased to up to 32 GB.

Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket and HTC Vivid have Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system. HTC’s sense user interface is widely accepted and is a favorite among the reviewers.

This phone makes no difference and the user interface is further enriched by different features. Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket has TouchWiz user interface. Both the phones are 4G capable and support many network frequencies.

They have a wide variety of connectivity options too including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. HTC Vivid has a price tag of approximately Rs. 30,000 and Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket is also expected to come within the same price rang in India.
