Huawei Ascend P2 Unveiled at MWC 2013: 5 Striking Smartphone Rivals Who Need to Worry Now

Chinese handset vendor, Huawei seems to be highly aggressive in splashing the tech world with its extensive smartphone launches. At the CES 2013, the company made exciting waves with Ascend Mate - 6.1 inch phablet, Ascend D2 and Windows Phone 8 based Ascend W1.

 

While only a month has passed since the major tech show, the other one is kicking off from today in Barcelona - MWC 2013. However, Huawei has not left the spotlight at MWC 2013 as it has already launched Ascend P2 - one of the smartphones that has got maximum footage before its actual announcement.

Claimed to be the world's fastest smartphone, Ascend P2 comes with several exciting features including a quad core processor, LTE Cat 4 offering ultrafast web experience with download speeds up to 150Mbps and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

As far as the other specs are concerned, Ascend P2 features a 4.7 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and 312 ppi pixel density alongside Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Further, the handset comes with a 1.5GHz quad core Huawei K3V2 processor, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS, 13MP rear camera with HDR, 1.3MP front camera for video calling, 16GB onboard storage, 1GB RAM, HSDPA, HSUPA, dual band Wi-Fi, LTE Cat 4, Bluetooth, NFC and a 2,420 mAh Li-ion battery.

Moreover, Ascend P2 enables e-payments and can act as an electronic ticket. The handset uses Huawei's unique Quick Power Control (QPC) and Automated Discontinuous Reception (ADRX) power-saving technologies that reduces power consumption by 30% and charging time by more than 25% compared to other smartphones.

There are other features including 'magic touch', which provides enhanced screen responsiveness even with gloves and 'smart reading', which allows instant keyword translation and Wikipedia searches on a single window.

While the global release of Ascend P2 is announced to commence from June 2013, the handset with the features mentioned above will definitely threaten the other smartphones existing in the market with its killer features. Galaxy S3 includes a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 processor, 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera, 16/32GB internal memory, micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB expandable memory, Also, the handset is packed with features like NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2,100 mAh Li-ion battery.

Equipped with quad core processors, Galaxy S3 and Ascend P2 can be considered as direct rivals. However, Ascend P2 has a faster processor, improved rear camera performance and better battery backup.

With a 13MP rear camera, Xperia Z and Ascend P2 come clashing with each other, however, the performance of the camera depends on handset.

HTC One boasts a 4.7 inch Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 1.7GHz quad core Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 processor, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS topped with HTC Sense 5 UI, 4MP UltraPixel rear camera with BSI sensor, 2.1MP front camera for video calling, 2GB RAM, 32GB/64GB internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G, high speed HSPA+, micro USB and a 2,300 mAh battery.

Again, with a 13MP rear camera and similar specs, HTC One could be a rival to Ascend P2.

BlackBerry Z10 comes with a 4.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 768 pixel resolution, 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage, 2GB RAM, micro SD card slot, HDMI port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 4G LTE and a removable 1,800 mAh battery.

Priced at Rs 43,490 in India, with a higher pixel density of 335 ppi pixel density and Ascend P2 with a pixel density of 312 ppi could be sitff competitors with similar specs.
