Huawei Ascend P6: World’s Slimmest Handset Announced

The other day the makers announced long delayed Ascend Mate in the Indian market at the same time in London, the world debut of Ascend P6 took place. The phone just measures 6.18mm and is laced with metallic body. The makers have gone for curvy design, which reminded of LG's first-gen Optimus smartphones lineup.

Analysts gave thumbs up - thanks to its design and solid built quality. The phone also houses a 5-mega pixel front facing camera, which is rare to find in the high-end handsets. Well, this is something not new, as Spice Stellar Pinnacle Pro also comes with front facing camera with same resolution.

The Ascend P6 comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display with in -cell technology. It will be interesting to compare this very handset with HTC One, as both handsets packs 4.7-inch display. However, on paper the HTC One won due to Full HD display.

Huawei says the handset is a fashion smartphone and its design is simply stunning. Just like the Ascend Mate, this phone can be operating (in context to the display) by wearing gloves. In the processing department, the phone comes fitted with 1.5GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 8GB ROM which can be further through microSD cards. The handset is not 4G LTE capable, but 3G connectivity is there. Being a leader in manufacturing 4G LTE equipment, this is a real disappointment.

The folks over at Huawei used a newer version of Emotional UI, which is decent, if not the best. You won't find Android app stray like user interface (UI). The device is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The rear facing camera comes loaded with an 8-mega pixel camera with F2.0 aperture and 4cm macro view. It is capable to capture videos at 1080p Full HD. Another Chinese firm, Lenovo recently announced K900 in the country. The phone has a 13-mega pixel rear camera with f 1/8 aperture.

The Ascend P6 has a 2,000mAh battery, which won't make you crazy. There are other handsets, for instance, the Galaxy S4 which packs a 2600mAh Li Ion user-replaceable battery. At last, the biggest attraction to own Ascend P6 is its lustful design and builds quality. For a change, home baked Emotional UI, is a nice attraction, if you are not conscious about stock Android.

Its India release date is not known yet but one can expect it to be announced sooner because Huawei is serious about its Indian operations. There are rumors in the air which force us to believe that the Chinese major could announce Ascend P6 in the Indian market later this year. Stay tuned to GizBot.
