Design

In terms of design, the Honor 6 Plus takes couple of inspirations from different flagships existing in the market, like the middle frame of the phone looks very similar to the iPhone 6 Plus and also Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Meanwhile, the flats sides going curvy at the bottom on the edges are very similar to Sony Xperia phones.

The button layout is on the right side, and it has got a glass back and front along with a rim that's made of plastic with embedded metal strips, so don't drop it!

Like Honor's other phones, the software is a mash-up of Android and the company's own Huawei-inspired EM UI overlay. The Honor 6 Plus runs Android 4.4 KitKat, so no Android Lollipop just yet with EM UI 3.0. You'll have to live without some core Android features like the app drawer , but the navigation is clean and the soft keys are customisable. It can be also swiped away if you want to open up some real estaste.

Even input customisation is available like gestures on the lock screen, also notification panel is also one of the main highlights, which shows your notifiacations in chronological order.

Processor

Inside, you'll find a processor you may not have heard of before - the HiSilicon Kirin 925. This is the combination of a Quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU and quad-core Cortex-A7 CPU with Mali-T628 MP4 GPU, which promises you a performance of an octa core CPU. The Antutu score was 43,601.

Performance is fine, it might not be as super-smooth as some of the newest Qualcomm or NVIDIA processor powering the devices like HTC One M9, but for the basics, this processor delivers a fine experience. Even playing games like Asphalt - you'd never know the difference between this and a much more powerful processor.

An odd configuration here means that you've got the option of using one of two SIM card slots as a microSD card slot. If you do, you get up to 128GB of additional space over the standard 16 or 32GB of internal storage. You'll also have 3GB of RAM to roll with.

Camera

The Honor 6 Plus has one main claim to fame and that is the dual camera set up. The two 8-megapixel cameras sit on the back of this smartphone, and another 8-megapixel camera rests up front. The whole lot takes some fairly high-end photos - some of the finest we've ever seen Huawei take, for certain.

With dual cameras at its back, you'll have a collection of neat camera tricks at your fingertips. As you can see the sample photos are good - they're not spectacular, but if you're good, you'll be able to make great photos here.

There is also a dual-focus feature, which is pretty easy and neat. Set your camera on a still platform and take a photo in a place with objects at multiple distances and you'll be able to see the magic once the photo is processed.

Connectivity and Storage

Elsewhere, there's 32GB of internal storage with Micro SD card support. The user available memory is 25.77GB, which is good enough compared to the LG and Samsung premium units in the market. There's 4G LTE support as well, effectively letting you have one 3G and one 4G connection.

Battery

The Honor 6 Plus has got a hefty 3,600mAh capacity battery, which should see you see through a day. Yes, according to our test, the battery of this phone might work for you for a day and a half, which is pretty decent compared to the other high end phone.

Verdict

In the past, Huawei has delivered a smartphone that's worthy of your attention. In the future, we hope, Huawei will be able to continue their path to highest quality as they penetrate in the Indian market with devices in the near future.

As a successor to the Honor 6, the Huawei Honor 6 Plus is a good upgrade in terms of screen size, camera and battery. All and all its a combination of nice performance, clean interface and lovely screen with a powerful battery.

But what needs to be looked upon by Huawei is the price of the handset which is still a bit expensive.
