Huawei Ascend W1 and Ascend W2: Windows Phone 8 Handsets to be Launched at CES 2013
Huawei, a solutions provider of global information and communications technology (ICT) has reported the launch of its Huawei Ascend W1 and Ascend W2 versions. The company said that the products would be revealed at the CES event to be conducted in 2013. At the meet, users will also get to see the launch of other awaited brand versions like Samsung Galaxy S IV.
The company's Ascend W1 version is OEM's low-end model. Rumours that did the rounds back in September report that this would be priced at USD $240 (approx. Rs. 13,080). The Huawei Ascend W2, on the other hand, is a high-end version.
The main feature of Huawei Ascend W1 includes a 4.3 inch WVGA screen with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It also includes front/back cameras of 3MP and 5MP respectively. The version's ROM is of 4GB with a 512MB RAM.
Huawei's Ascend W2 version comes with an 8MP shooter and a dual LED flash at the back. There is very little information about this version available. However, the Ascend W2 being a high-end product, one can expect the processor to be at least 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 and RAM to be of 1GB.
The company further announced that it would be entering the Windows Phone platform by extending its dealership with Microsoft. The handset called the Windows Phone 8 would help the company extend its smartphone portfolio. Through this, Huawei aims at capturing a larger share of the market for the Windows Phone operating system. The company has not yet decided upon the release date of these products.
