Idea Cellular, an Indian telecom operator has come up with a new 3G dual SIM smartphone based on Android dubbed as Aurus, which is claimed to be a re-branded version of Alcatel One Touch 985N smartphone priced competitively at Rs 7,190.

Aurus is the fourth Android smartphone released into the market by the teleco, with the other three smartphones being Idea Blade, Idea ID-918 and Idea ID-280.

Key Specifications

According to Idea Cellular, Aurus smartphone packs a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution. Also, the handset is equipped with a MediaTek MT6573 processor, 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, micro SD card supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front facing camera for video calling.

With a measurement of 61.84 x 116 x 12.15mm and a weight of around 136 grams, Aurus runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, which is pretty old.

On the connectivity front, the handset is packed with features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n, Bluetooth, 3G, EDGE and GPRS. Aurus is powered by a 1,300 mAh Li-ion battery of undisclosed battery backup.

Other Features

Idea Aurus comes preloaded with a number of applications including Idea App mail – the teleco's app store, Android Manager, augmented reality app Layar, Currency Converter, photo editor PicSay, Pinball game, Ringdroid, Shazam and social netwoking app such as Facebook and Twitter.

Being a budget Android smartphone, Idea Aurus is priced at Rs 7,190 and it can be purchased from leading mobile retail stores and Idea outlets across the country. Also, Idea users can avail free 3G services worth Rs 2,340 on a recharge of Rs 259.
