Intex Aqua Style Review: The Smartphone That Offers Exactly What it Promises
- Great Build
- Decent Color Reproduction
- Decent Sound
- Not so great detailing
- Battery not big enough
We are in an exciting age where technology has advanced beyond our wildest imaginations. While new advancements have been made in almost all the sectors, the smartphone arena has also benefited from it. Hence we are seeing such many handsets being unveiled and pushed out almost everyday.
The native smartphone market is currently one of the top places to do business, as it has emerged in recent times. And with the hope to shine in that business, a host of smartphones makers have emerged out of the blue. In fact, there's more reason to believe that many more are on the way.
While others are making (or trying to make) it big in the market, one handset maker that's lookig to emerge from shadows is Intex. And the although the company may be known as one the many names to have emerged from the country, it still holds potential to become one of the top names.
Intex recently took the veils off its brand new Aqua Style handset. Prior to that though, it has to be said that even thugh the company may not be among the big names all around, but it still is striving ahead to make itself known in the market. And the newly released Intex Aqua Style is a perfect example for that.
At a recent launch event held in Bangalore, Intex launched its brand new Aqua Style smartphone with a more than affordable price tag of Rs. 5,990. The smartphone, as you may have already guessed, falls in the budget category with the segment currently a big thing in India.
But while we say stuff about the new handset, it's not enough to make you understand about the good bits and bad bits of the new handset. However, Intex was kind enough to give us the review unit for the same for us to check it out. Here's our full review for the handset.
Intex Aqua Style Review: Form Factor and Operating System
The new Intex Aqua Style comes with a 4-inch form factor. The handset, like most in its range, offers 800x480 pixel resolution as well. And while those are the figures surrounding the device, it has to be said that we were quite surprised by the build quality of the handset.
If you carefully look at the handset, you will find out that the handset is a mix of early iPhones and early Samsung models running (that came running the basic Android OS). While the device feels a bit heavy in hand, but that's negligible and shouldn't be that big an issue. Apart from that, while not being either the slimmest or the lightest in the budget category, it still offers quite a sleek look and feel.
Heading deeper into the handset, the phone has quite the sturdy build. Being said that, the glossy back panel does tend to fall off from your hands once in a while. Apart from that, the device has all its regular button offerings similar to what you find in handsets around you.
As far as normal button placements are concerned, the Aqua Stryle has its volume rocker buttons placed at the left side of the phone. While the power button for the same is placed at the right side. However, it still seems like the volume rockers are more comfortably placed for a left handed user compared to a right handed one.
Taking that out of consideration, the device has its 3.5mm headset jack placed on top of the handset, alongside the USB charging port. The phone mic, as expected, is placed in the bottom right. In the back, there's the 5MP camera sensor with flash above the INTEX logo.
As far as the software the handset is running, as expected, Android KitKat remains the top choice for handset makers, and Intex is no different. The handset comes offering the official Google-based Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS. The interface for the handset also looks quite fluid to tell the truth.
We haven't faced any issue related to the interface being buggy. While it isn't any real refresh from whatever we see around, it still manages to pass off well with whatever it has.
