Intex is all set to foray into the quad core budget smartphone race this week as the company is prepping to launch Aqua Wonder 2. Back in March, Gizbot came up with a report claiming that the India based tech firm is planning to launch an affordable quad core handset, which could be a sequel to Aqua Style in April.
Also, Gizbot was the first to reveal that the native handset vendor is all set to launch the Aqua Style 2 on April 15. The report also quotes Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, General Manager Mobile Business stating that the company is working on three to four more handsets in the sub Rs 10,000 price range. Adding more put to the reports, online retailer Flipkart has listed the Aqua Wonder Quad Core with a 'Coming Soon' status, which could be one of the handsets.
According to the listing, Aqua Wonder Quad Core will come boasting a 4.5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, quad core processor, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, 2MP front camera, 4GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, A-GPS and 1,800 mAh battery.
When it comes to the pricing of the Aqua Wonder Quad Core, it is estimated that the Intex handset will be priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 approximately.
According to numerous media reports, Intex might incorporate a MediaTek MT6589 processor in Aqua Wonder Quad Core. Though MediaTek MT6589 is not the most powerful processor available on the market, the quad core processor is capable of delivering a solid performance at an extremely low price, thereby attracting the low cost manufacturers can make smartphones with IPS display costing less than Rs 10,000. This price of the smartphones is approximately three times less expensive as compared to the similar offerings made by major tech titans.
