Competition
As Intex has come up with a quad core Jelly Bean smartphone, it is evident that the company is planning to compete with the other big manufacturers, who have already forayed into that category of the market. Some of them include Micromax, Karbonn, Lava and more.
Intex could be competing to steal the likes of Canvas HD priced at Rs 14,499 with the launch of Aqua Wonder Quadcore at Rs 9,990, which is significantly lesser.
To remind of specs, A116 Canvas HD houses a 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MT6589 processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a 2,100 mAh battery.
Commenting on the launch of its quad-core phone, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, GM - Mobile Business, Intex Technologies (I) Ltd. said, "At Intex, we endeavor to bring innovative mobile solutions to mobile users of today. Reaffirming our commitment to quality and pioneering technologies, the newly launched Aqua Wonder quad core smartphone is a step towards empowering consumers in semi-urban towns and cities with cutting edge technology at an affordable price."
Apart from the launch of Aqua Wonder Quadcore, two more smartphones - Aqua Glow and Aqua Active have appeared on official Intex website. As of now, there is no detail about the pricing and availability of the two handsets that have surfaced online.
Specwise, both Aqua Glow and Aqua Active seem to be Gingerbread smartphones with entry level specifications including single core processor and more.
