iPhone 5 Greets India with Namaste: What About Special Tariff Plans for Apple New Smartphone?
The 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants of the handset were released in the country for Rs 45,500, Rs 52,500 and Rs 59,500 respectively through Apple's official distribution partners in India Ingram Micro & Redington and also through telecom partners Bharti Airtel and Aircel. There are some speculations claiming that Apple is facing some supply issue with the iPhone 5, however, those consumers who have already pre-ordered the iPhone 5 prior to its release can collect one from the retail outlets across the country.
On Friday evening, Bharti Airtel and Redington held a special event in the above mentioned cities and offered the iPhone 5 units to those consumers who have pre-ordered the handset.
Now, telecom service providers, Airtel and Aircel have announced special prepaid and postpaid voice and data plans for the iPhone 5 users.
Airtel offers plans with free local minutes, local and national SMS and 3G data. These plans start at Rs. 300, which might vary based on the circle. Additional charges include 60p/min for all mobiles, 90p/min for land-lines, SMS 40p/ SMS and 3p/30kb data. As of now, Airtel offers only the black version of the iPhone 5.
Aircel offers 3 pre-paid plans starting at Rs. 39 with free local on-net calling, Local and National SMS and 2G/3G data based on the circle with a validity of 30 days. The telco is also offering one plan for the postpaid customers, wherein, they need not pay anything for the first 12 months, but after that the monthly rental would be Rs.399.
Detailing on the specs of iPhone 5, the handset houses a 4 inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels, a new Apple A6 chipset, 1GB RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal memory, 8MP rear camera with iSight technology and 1.2MP front camera.
Powered by the iOS 6 platform with new features, iPhone 5 comes packed with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, 4G LTE, 3G and micro USB 2.0 support. As per Apple, the battery in the smartphone offers 8 hours talk time and 225 hours standby.
