Apple is planning to release the iPhone 5 in the country during the popular festival Diwali, which falls on November 13, 2012.
The folks over BGR recently came up with an exclusive report, that “Apple will change the way it retails the iPhone in India. Rather than relying on carriers alone, this year Apple will launch the iPhone in the open market as well. This means the iPhone will be available to buy across retail stores and not just a few retailers apart from Airtel and Aircel stores.”
In addition, the report suggested that Apple is not in talks with any of the Indian carriers regarding the orders for Nano SIM cards. An inside source of BGR, claimed that a period of eight weeks would be needed to get the Nano SIM cards after placing the orders for the same, indicating that iPhone 5 might not come to India in October, however would arrive in November.
