Under the leadership of Tim Cook, Apple hasn't progressed much when it comes to new refreshing designs; a tradition followed in the reign of late Steve Jobs.
This year Apple unleashed an iPhone 5S with minor cosmetic changes, and yes, the fingerprint scanner came as a surprise.
But more or less, the iPhone 5S design remains unchanged and a bit underwhelming compared to the likes of HTC One and Moto X.
In the era of "phablets", when everyone is trying to make massive Full HD phones, Apple is yet to show a large size iPhone. Soon users might get to see Apple to launch an iPhone 6 having a 4.9-inch display.
Despite getting negative feedback for its iPhone 5C, Apple is said to be working on a sequel with large display.
According to China's C Technology blog site, Apple is rumored to be testing iPhone with a 4.9-inch display. The report also sheds light on the iPhone 5C 2 that will also boast of a bigger display. However, the folks over at C Technology have no idea how big the iPhone 5S successor screen will be.
If Apple comes up with a bigger display iPhone 6 next year, then it will give the Cupertino-based tech giant a chance to better compete with Google Nexus range. For Apple, Samsung remained of its key arch rival in the hardware business.
Early next year, we may get to see two tech giants making every possible move to make sure the buzz around their respective handsets will be adequate.
On the lines of iPhone 5S, South Korea's could announce a sequel to the Galaxy S4 packing a 64-bit processor and fingerprint scanner. The device would also have a 5 + Super AMOLED Full HD display and 3GB RAM under the hood.
Samsung will definitely try to announce the device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, followed by release somewhere around April.
Meanwhile, Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Chris Caso said in research note that Apple could launch the iPhone 6 with a higher-price tag. When iPhone 5 was launched, Apple's profit margins were sacrificed due to better quality display. Now with the iPhone 6, Apple expected to increase the price of each unit. Apple could increase the price of iPhone 6 by $50 and $100, as per the early prediction.
Apple's next flagship phone, the iPhone 6 will have thinner bezels and narrower bezel. It will also include an updated A8-processor, to made Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's (TSM) 20-nanometer process. Recently Forbes reported that the iPhone 6 might use man-made sapphire crystal cover for its display.
