It looks like Apple has accidently leaked an updated version of the iPhone 5C, its cheapest handset, now with a TouchID fingerprint scanner.

iPhone 5c With Touch ID Spotted on Apple Website

The alleged image used to advertise Apple's new iPhone charging cradle with a lightning connector shows the iPhone 5C with a Touch ID scanner, and a similar red plastic back.

It is possible that Apple will release a new cheaper iPhone this fall, likely to be called the iPhone 6C. The iPhone 5C was not even updated in September 2014 during the announcement of the larger iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.

Previous reports had, of course, claimed that Apple might not announce the successor to the iPhone 5C, due to the lacklustre demand. And thus there seems a reason why Apple may not like to bring the second-generation iPhone 5C into the market anytime soon.

But again, a sketchy rumour claims that Apple will release a 4-inch iPhone this September, alongside the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus. Like Apple's latest generation devices, the 4-inch model would feature a Touch ID scanner, and is likely to sport low-end hardware internals.

With Apple planning to expand its Apple Pay to more countries this fall -which uses Touch ID to authenticate payments - an iPhone 6C could be on Apple's wish list to popularize its flagship service.
