The budget tech manufacturers based in India have prospected from launching Gingerbread smartphones to ICS and now Jelly Bean offerings. Also, they have tried their hands will all possible display sizes ranging from 3 inches to 5.5 inches. The latest one comes from Karbonn as the company has come up with an ICS based 4.5 inch smartphone called A12.
Karbonn Mobiles is constantly launching numerous smartphones and a few tablets at all ranges to rope in the consumers of almost all the segments.
The company recently launched an high-end smartphone - 4.5 inch Jelly Bean based Smart Titanium 1 with quad core processor. So soon, the native tech firm has launched a dual SIM ICS smartphone.
Speaking of specs, A12 boasts a 4.5 inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 1GHz processor, 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 0.3MP front camera for video calling, 4GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via a micro SD card slot, 512MB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G and a 1,800 mAh battery.
Price & Availability
When it comes to availability, the low cost vendors have started following a trend of launching their devices online via e-commerce sites. Similarly, Karbonn A12 has been spotted on Flipkart at Rs 7,999 and on Saholic at Rs 7,699 respectively.
Karbonn A12 - Scary Time for Competitors
Karbonn is not the only India company that has come up with a budget large screen smartphone as there are several others including iBall, Lava and Micromax and more who have also marked their presence in the market. However, the Karboon A12 smartphone comes at a very low price tag of Rs 7,999 and hence, it can set a scary time for competitors.
Lava Xolo A700
Dual SIM Xolo A700 features a 4.5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution, 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, 5MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front facing camera for video chatting, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, expandable memory option up to 32GB via microSD card, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a 1,700 mAh battery offering up to 3 hours talk time and 288 hours standby.
Priced at Rs 9,999, the Lava offering with similar specifications comes with a higher price tag as compared to Karbonn A12. However, it has a dual core processor for better multi-tasking and performance.
Micromax Superfone Pixel A90S
Following the success of A90 Pixel, Micromax launched its successor - A90S Superfone Pixel. The dual SIM smartphone comes flavored with Android 4.0 ICS platform and sports a 4.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, 1GHz dual core processor, 8MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera for video calling purposes, 4GB internal storage, 512MB, a micro SD card slot, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with aGPS, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi and a 1,600 mAh Li-ion battery delivering 5 hours talk time and 174 hours standby.
With a price of Rs 12,990, the Micromax offering has a better camera performance and dual core processor. However, when it comes to pricing, Karbonn A12 scores more with a price of Rs 7,999.
iBall Andi 4.3j
Andi 4.3j with a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display, 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, 5MP rear camera, 0.3MP VGA front camera, 2GB internal storage, 512MB RAM, micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and dual batteries - 1,630 mAh Li-ion battery and 900 mAh Li-ion battery totaling to 2,530 mAh Li-ion battery.
Priced at Rs 9,499, Andi 4.3j has an added advantage with the dual battery feature, which makes the iBall offering more powerful. However, Andi 4.3j is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread as compared to the Android ICS platform in Karbonn A12.
